Hi all
I was wondering if anyone might have some info on the loco pictures I have posted with this message.I have recently obtained it from an auction with some rolling stock. From what I can read on the little plaque on the side of the loco it is based on a Swiss tram/rail bus. Also would any one know by looking at the pictures if a MTS chip could be fitted .It looks to me that it is fitted with some type of DCC circuit board, the wires on the top of the cab are tapped down and not connected.
Thank you in advance of any replies I may get......................or I could end up being a Billy no mates with no replies!!!!!
All the best
Kev

:bigsmile:it looks like the boddy off a blue electric rack loco.. with the wheels/motor/chassey off a stanzes.. the bord you think is mts, is infact the bord from a Anolog rack loco, more importantly, if you look at the last photo, u can see the wires going into/onto the motor block pins.. if theres 4 pins it would be relitively easy to chip/fit a mts chip.. if it has less pins, its doable, but takes a bit long/more involved

It's a 'cut and shut' of the LGB Elecric Rack Loco, an LGB coach and a chassis from a LGB steam loco, possibly a Stainz or an Otto.

Looks like it's been well put together though, and probably unique....

Oh! that is sweet!! Very nicely built bash, do you know anything about the builder? or where it came from?

that link to the video may be the most impressive temp layout ive ever seen

an interesting bash indeed-seems a bit more australian than swiss though
definitely a stainz's drive chassis

have never seeen anything similar which is swiss, but then again im not terribly familiar with all things swiss railroad

These were made by Garden railway services in Princes Risborough Bucks.

Just to avoid confusion, I think that should be Garden Railway SPECIALISTS. I didn't know they had made anything like this, it would be very interesting to know how many they made and if any others are still out there. As others have said, it's certainly been well converted, and even if not unique is still a very rare curiosity - a great find!

As Mike said, DCC chipping should be a doddle if it has a 4-pin gearbox, and is still very do-able even if it's an older 3-pin type. With DCC and sound it would be lovely!

Jon.

My mistake it is Specialists not services, I don't think that these were made after about the mid nineties I can recall seeing them in red and white and yellow and white as well .

That's really nice!

Immediately reminded me of the old Eggerbahn model:

Hi all
well I am mighty impressed with all the replies......thank you very much indeed, and for the video links. I can now see how the parts must of come together. Who ever did the conversion certainly was skilled (sorry I do not know who it was and when)as it looks like a proper shop bought loco. There has been a fair bit of brass used in the make up.I shall have to decide now to keep it or sell it on as I do not know if it will fit in with my future plans.......and I know I have some of them some where in the old Grey matter!!!!.
Thanks again all..........well impressed.

Anyone with the GR/GRS Railways in Your Garden volume 1 Video/DVD will find shots of this loco running at 26:55 in. Also in volume 3 another example can be seen at 14:56 in.

Thank you Cliff,I am now off to see if I can find that DVD.......the more Books and DVD's on garden railways the better (my wife still thinks I should wear an anorak!!!!) lol
Kind regards
Kev

Awesome video.......I might as well give up now after seeing it, it would take me a life time to collect that much track let alone the loco's and rolling stock to run on it. Oh well , from little acorns and all that (or in my case from a grape seed!!!!!)
