WHERE TO FIT SPEAKER IN ARISTOCRAFT GEU25 ?

Recently acquired my first GEU25 and was surprised that the speaker grille in the fuel tank is filled with weights, so can't get one in there. My RS3 and RDC both have speakers already installed.
Anyone found the best place to mount a speaker ?

Greetings from Dorset.

I think the fuel tank is the ideal place for speaker with the grill to let the sound out whereas the location of the weights, if needed, is less critical.
I suggest you test the loco with the heaviest train it's likely to haul on the worst of your gradients and curves to see if you actually need the fuel tank weights.

Many thanks. Aristo have seen fit to glue the fuel tank together but I have prised it apart and evntually managed to remove the weights and the foam backing which were literally stuck inside. I have fabricated a baffle for the speaker from Plastikard and installed the speaker. As my VIsaton speaker's magnet came close to the metal plates on the underframe, this affected the sound, so I have had to remove these as well. It looks as though I shall have to cut upthe weights and install them elsewhere.
If you consider that the circuit board is for a Plug and Play device to make life simpler, why on earth have Aristo made no provision for sound ?
I remain exasperated but it keeps me off street corners.

The old U25 were very light and could hardly pull their own shadow up even a small gradient so Aristo bunged in weights. When they have done this with other locos the weights went inside the hood area on the chassis but for some reason, with the U25, they put them in the usual place for speaker ie the fuel tank... (they probably did not want the expense of redesigning the pcb inside the hood). They then advised putting the speaker inside the hood! Apparently there are extra weights to put inside a Dash-9 fuel tank as well.....

As Neil suggests, make the fuel tank the speaker bay and put the weights inside the hood suitably affixed and insulated just in case they shift etc.
The U25 needs as much weight as it can get to really pull but if you are only on the flat, have fairly gentle curves and only make short trains you will not so much weight......
