Which Locomotive toi go for

Hello all

Thanks first of all for all the welcomes and information. I have now mastered ( well i least i think i have ) the LGB JUmbo unit and is adjusted to 14Volts max for my 4052 and 4051 playmobil trains .

In the next 2 weeks i will have completed the outdoors G scale set up with 55metres of LGB track, a LGB Bridge all run by the Jumbo unit.

The big question i have after seen a lot of LGB train engines on ebay, on the LGB catalogues, is this :

I want a bigger and faster train than the 14V playmobil ones. CAn you please advice me with photos which are the biggest and fastest train engines from LGB that i can buy ???? :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

You should first decide what you will be running.

- Narrow gauge (LGB) or Standard gauge (LGB & PIKO) ?
- American lines or European railways (Germany, Switzerland, Austria...) ?
- Steam, electric or diesel ?

Re:Which Locomotive toi go for

If you're after speed get yourself a Scalextric! :rolf:

Re:Which Locomotive toi go for

Also fast may not mean prototypical speed. If you want speed may I suggest slot car racing. I presonally dont like my trains doing 100 mph, a realistic slow speed better and safer
Really the only train that is meant to go fast that LGB produced is the LCE

Re:Which Locomotive toi go for

We light railfarers live in a world where the National Speed Limit is 25mph.
With steam locos we go to a lot of effort to keep our trains down to that speed.

Re:Which Locomotive toi go for

i should have elaborated a bit better in my original email. Its not important the speed that the train will achieve at all but more important that it will harness the full 24 V of the Jumnbo unit as with the playmobil trains i have i am restricted to 14V and i would like to be able to go up top 24 V i suppose. As for the trains , it will have to be LGB for sure, european , standard gause steam and have a tender so there are more than one motor. any suggestions will be much appreciated ....

Hi George
The jumbo is beast enough to have plenty of amps for any loco or lash-up of locos. The voltage is really only for speed, amps are for the power available. LGB locos tend to be happy on less than one amp to less than 2 amps for the big ones (even they will work with a 1 amp controller). It is when you use more than one loco together or you begin to use smoke with sound and lights or other brands like Aristo or USA Trains kit which can gobble up amps with everything running.
Volts = loco speed (and when sound, smoke and lights will come on)
amps = the amount of power available for motors, lights, smoke etc.

Your jumbo has plenty!
