Paul don't you think you constant references to guns in other people threads is a little childish and may upset many people?

I find after this weekends events when another gun obsessed individual was responsible for one of the largest mass murders by one person with a similar weapon in particular bad taste.
I'm sorry didn't mean to offend anyone but constant references?. but I don't need to discuss that here, if you want to shoot me a PM we could have a discussion about it?

Re:any fa1 instructions? for my fa1 from a.craft aslo what is foR FROM wire???

i need a help...with wire from unit b? what is for?

Hi Steven
If it has a black socket on it it is used for battery power all new Aristo loco's come with these next to the couplings . From your pic your Fa is the older loco and the Fb is the newer loco .

i see!! tht why i thought what is it for so i want to use battery to ran my fa1 like mr spockie on mallets!! so u mean my old fa1 ave no socket rite? so mean my unit b ave socket? wont connect it? mine fa1 number is 6003 and the unit b is 6005

green and red ...wot for?
pls help me..thks u....coz im trying to figurin out for my battery to ran the motor without power pick up from track
p.s.but fA1 ave no black socket stick out from the back for the batterY...just unit b

hi so see tht 2 different wires on each bogie same as another bogies. so which wires is for battery to ran the wires?
red and black?
red and green?
but another wire to go to back of the door as switch on and off for the motor,,im confused as im not good at electrical stuffs as im gettin 12 volts nid cad recharge batteries for it to ran the motor but i didnt want the fan on,smoke on...??

Steven, the bogies have two pairs of wires, one pair to the wheels, the other to the motor.
If you haven't got a test meter you could remove the bogie sideframes, probably three small screws on each, and see which wires are attached to the brass strips on the inside of the frames. These are the ones you need to remove from the sideframes and connect to the battery to run on battery only. Even the older model A unit should have a switch to turn the smoke off, so I'd use that rather than alter any more wiring than needs be. The newer B unit may have a track/battery switch, just switch that to battery to isolate the track pickups.
The B unit may well have fuses in the form of self resetting polyswitch type devices, but the A unit may not. It is most inadvisable to run battery powered without suitable fuses.

On mine, the black+WHITE pair is from the track pickup, the red+green pair is to the motor.
These colour codes are only for the leads between the power trucks and the body.
The smoke and lights are switched inside one of the corridor 'diaphragms'.
Are you planning RC control?
You might like to consider 3 x 7.2V NiMh battery packs.

hi westcott.so u mean black and white is for pick up electric from the track for the fan? lite? and smoke?
green and red is for the motor? it tht correct ? or?

Steven,
Yes, that's correct.
The track pickups also supply the motors!

hi WESTCOTT again.im not usin radio controlled just the battery itself and switch toggles mean put the battery on the fish belly flat car with wire to the motor to ran it without speed controller.
like spockie post his picture of his mallet with 12 volt battery to ran it...coz i cant afford radio controlled stuffs..
so will 12 volts can pull FA1?
p.s.but my fa1 ave no socket for the battery!! but unit b ave socket for the battery! but if i use the unit b with battery rite? but fA1 AVE no socket ..mean it wont ran the fa1 while usin unit b with battery..tht odd?

Steven,
Round about 2002 Aristocraft modified the wiring for their F1s (and several others) to include a track/battery switch, and a battery socket. Earlier models had neither.
As Richie noted, your F1A is one of the earlier models, your F1B is the later type.
It is a challenge to convert a pre-2002 model to battery.
One has to modify the internal wiring and PCB to add a track/battery switch, a battery socket, and ideally a direction change switch.

Hamish.
