British narrow gauge (esp. Southwold and W&LLR)
Just completed a wooden loading hopper constructed from a kit made by http://www.holzmodellbausatz.de/en-us/index.htm < Link To Holzmodellbausatz
All the main components were pre-cut and fitted together readily. There was a large exploded diagram with the kit and some notes in German but unlike a prefabricated wardrobe it was left to the modeller as to the order in which the pieces were assembled.
I was unsure as to whether the ply used in the kit was exterior grade - the timbers were pine softwood - so I doused the whole thing liberally in Cuprinol preservative so hopefully it will withstand the weather conditions in the NW of England.
For those interested, there is a blow by blow account http://riksrailway.blogspot.co.uk/2012/12/how-i-constructed-loading-hopper.html < Link To on my blog - . Having now constructed one from a kit, it would be a relatively simple process to construct another from scratch. I might well do that as I'm not sure one hopper is enough. Anyway - I can thoroughly recommend this kit - though I notice on the website it's not listed, but maybe they will be producing some more.
