7/8ths Baldrig with a twist

You are making a fantastic job of this Steph' ? I do like bashing generic products myself and I am looking forward to seeing the end result of yours. You won't be leaving the boiler bands brass tho' will you...?

Hi Tag.... brass boiler bands I think not! Just repainted my other Accucraft bash to get rid of them on that one too! Neither the bands or the dome will be brass! I'm having issues now though picking a livery! I was going to paint it a weathered blue, but a green or black weathered look is also appealing;) Hopefully going to visit a mate who paints models professionally to get his help with the finish... but he's so busy with other stuff its getting the time!

Oh and thanks to every one for their nice comments I appreciate them very much:D

Well I have taken the plunge and done a paint job on the Lawrig. As an experiment I painted her without the aid of an airbrush or spray cans and she looks OK to me! Today was the moment of truth as I steamed her for the first time.. and she went well apart from a small steam leak by the pressure gauge (amusingly this is about the only joint I have not had apart!)... its stubbornly refusing fixing atm:@

Of course just as pressure was reached the heavens opened with thunder and lightening so play was curtailed but so far she runs OK. I add a couple of photo's of her posing prior to steaming.

Interestingly the paint did have one small issue and it was with the heat resistant paint on the smokebox... I think the heat cased some sort of reaction between that and the acrylic based paint I used for weathering it so that needs a tiny bit of adjustment but thats fine.

:love:perfection in steam

what a lovely job youve done
great paint too
looks just worn enough-
nice and clean lines-just a restful sort of look
-easy to take in and simply enjoy the lines of the loco
and that rather tall stack

id ask , please, for a pic with a driver just to really put it into scale, when you get the muse

Well a dry if not warm and sunny afternoon saw Sylvia get her first proper run... and it went well. Even with the weep that I still cannot fix from the pressure gauge fixing she maintained 40psi and ran very well. She was a tad fast at the start partially due to the stiffness and partially due to me having the gas too high..... Once I had figured out the better settings she tamed down and ran well but I had put the camera down by then!

Hers a link to a bit of video of when she was running too fast!

Your wish is my command;) Here is a pic from yesterday with one of Rob Bennetts Busy Bodies. These are quite chunky 7/8ths scale chaps by the way! But this is a really tiny 7/8ths scale loco.... the new Accucraft QHunslet will be longer!
