We had the pleasure of attending the celebration of the 60th wedding anniversary a pair of of Essex longest serving G scalers.
Don and Evelyn have about 5 open days each year despite their progressing years and a good time is had by all at each of their days.
Don's layout was the first that I visited before I embarked on my own efforts. It was an inspiration and he always was patient with me as i was 'puppy-like' in firing tons of questions his way.
As a thank you, my other half, after seeing Tony's success with making figures, said that i should make a little 'thing' for the two anniversary folk.

After much ripping off of unsuccessful head detail , accidents with figures falling onto their face in the oven and much swearing when making the glasses this is what I managed to make. I had the use of three photos of the subjects. It was my first attempt at using polymer clay (Fimo)
A lot of silver spray paint was used!

Very well done and what a wonderful tribute:thumbup:

Thanks lads for the really lovely comments. They were chuffed ( :@) to get it and they even said it looked like themselves!
As to crowns Tony..have no fear mate..it took me so long to get these fashioned to a standard that was half acceptable that I think that my days of figure making might be over!

Nicely done Mike!
I didn't realise that Don and Evelyn were celebration their 60th anniversary this year?

And I must try to get to one of their Open Days this year, especially as son Krizzy is now residing in Colchester's Mile End....

Yes Gizzy, do make a visit.
It is a great unthemed railway but the infrastructure is gradually beginning to age ....much like the owners!
Don is in his eighties and still does two jobs and has an enormous veg garden that he still cares for on his own!
Every open day he puts all of the cars, houses etc out and takes them back in (there are a lot of houses and cars!).
If I am like him at that age, I will be more than thankful!!!

Many thanks for the nice comments Stuart and Chris and Woders. I am glad that others do recognise the similarity!
They are a lovely couple and let's hope there are many more years of their open days.

PS Chris your avatar is ...ahem....very.....distracting..........;)
