Accucraft 'Super Baguley' with all metal chassis

Sea Lion

Registered
Accucraft UK have developed a brand new ?all metal? chassis for this model. Drive is on to the centre axle and the model has all metal drive rods. [/b]
[/b]
Basic track powered, suitable for battery conversion.[/b]
[/b]
We think the new RRP at today?s VAT rate would be £255.00. [/b]
[/b]
Feedback would be appreciated as to what new colours you would like to see?[/b]

Hi John,

I'd be interested to know if the new chassis is a simple retrofit to the original bodyshell and whether the chassis would be available separately?

The new chassis has the same body fixings as the old one and if there is a demand Accucraft would sell the chassis separately, no idea of cost at present.

The motor is at the front driving down to a metal gearbox on the centre axle. This leaves clear space under the bonnett from the middle axle back to the cab, and all the cab. In addition there is space above the motor at the front if you wanted to bridge over it with 'gubbins'.

Very keen for ideas to be fedback on colours.

Regards,

John

Hi John,
Not wanting to state the obvious, but I assume this chassis & gearbox should resolve the issues some experienced with the early version?
Black is always a useable option, but I would think the usual green is popular.
Price seems reasonable considering a metal chassis and gearbox. Piko would look cheaper but there again - it is, - plastic. Makes the Roundhouse diesel look expensive, even with a metal body shell.
My tuppence worth any way. Would I - probably.

Dom (on here somewhere) has a wasp striped yeller one and that looks rather good I must say.

But then, my wasp stripe obsession is well known!

A dark (royal) blue would be nice too.

I agree deep blue and if poss' with white lining as on some M/C Ship Canal locos although they were Rolls Royce engined.

Yes Alan, you can expect a nice heavy loco that runs well.

Sorry, but I'm not clear about this, are we talking about £255 for the whole loco or just the chassis? If it is the loco will it be the same body tooling?

I think black with, yellow buffer beams, so that we can add our own black wasp stripes over. hopefully simplifying the decoration might save a few pennies on the cost!

I'd certainly say dump the red chassis, as for the body, well for me either, black, red, yeller, and a light green - not that awful dull green they used to come in. Colours tend to weather lighter.....

May be boring, but I vote for this livery:-

Holt's British racing Green LBM38 now sadly RIP.
For some strange reason, mine seems to run well! 12 x AA NiMh, Mac 5, Planet T5.
