Accucraft 'Super Baguley' with all metal chassis

Sorry, but I'm not clear about this, are we talking about £255 for the whole loco or just the chassis? If it is the loco will it be the same body tooling?

£255 is the approximate expected full list price for the complete loco, comprising new all metal chassis, with previous plastic body tooling, and hopefully some new colors

I'd certainly say dump the red chassis, as for the body, not that awful dull green they used to come in.

May be boring, but I vote for this livery:-

Holt's British racing Green LBM38 now sadly RIP.
For some strange reason, mine seems to run well! 12 x AA NiMh, Mac 5, Planet T5.

That looks rather lighter then the scunge green I recall! The black frames are much nicer too.

Here's an older pic, when she was freshly painted, and un-numbered.

I really fell for the green, did several locos & then found Holts had been taken over by Car Plan, and can't get a match.

That looks like a ford colour, I have a tin somewhere, I must look and see what it's called for you - not for my car, I painted a coach with it....!!!!

Here's one from left field - black chassis, photographic grey (primer) body work. That way people can paint it whatever colour they want.

I rather like Mels idea.

No - it's MG/Rover British Racing Green 1963 ish
Holt's LBM38 now sadly RIP.
I've tried several others notably Rover "Brooklands Green", Vauxhall "Pine Green", Halford's "Racing Green".
All have near identical caps, but different actual shades.

I did just get a single can of LBM38 vie eBay, so I may look at the specialist matching services.

I thinks it's a good 'un, but probably won't suit the ready to run buyers.
A great "Option" though.

It it a 'super' Baguley because the original was rather err unsuper?
Well, as you asked....... the use of the word 'super' was mine, not an Accucraft product description. The original Baguley was approx half the price and thus designed to a lower all plastic specification.

If a car maker has a deluxe version of a car should all the standard versions be called undeluxe? Should a standard cheese sandwich be called 'ungourmet' ?

Happy steamings,

John

I'm still hacked off that Accucraft messed up the order and I never got my black industrial Viking.

Allegedly it is possible Victors never actually gave a firm order to Accucraft to produce any Black Vikings. The facts are Victors are no longer trading (for whatever reason) and no Black ones were ever made for them (for whatever reason).

Watch this space.... ;)

Happy steamings,

John

This sounds like an interesting proposition and at what seems a fairly realistic price.
I never bought an original as the all plastic chassis put me off too.
Would be good to see some pics of the chassis too even if only pre-production at this stage.

As I say I?d like to model the prototype so the colour scheme AS per the one on the W&L would be good, but one with wasp stripes will sell well I?m sure.

Will the wheels be the same and will it go round tight curves? My only request is that the wheel plating is better and it would be good if they could be fitted with a skate as per LGB. The old version may have been cheap but one would still expect it to work. The pricing point of the new version is spot on as your now paying around the £200 mark for a LGB 0-4-0 engine. I?ll def be on the order list!

Alongside this would be good to see a run of the GW livery of the open wagon with no number added- unless anyone has removed the numbers of theirs? ( i want to model a long train of them)

Definitely interested in one with metal chassis.Perhaps Accucraft could sell a seperate body in white or grey so that people could do their own livery.

That's a good point. On mine the wheel plating wore away rapidly with only very light use and light cleaning. The wheels now have concentric rings of fine ridges which pick up the dirt quickly.

The opriginal runs on the VoR, not the W&L. The W&L version looks similar but is much older and used to run on the Chattenden and upnor railway. A similar loco, from the same order, is currently running on the Brecon Mountain Railway and a much modified pair are now running on the Ffestiniog Railway as Criccieth Castle and Harlech Castle.
