Alco Bash

Just spent a week on this. Added sandpipes, miniature pressure gauge, working whistle, some extra detail and a lot of paint. Have moved that awful brass knurled knob out of the door and tucked the reversing quadrant forrard of the cab door. Stuck on a summerlands chuff pipe and painted out all that shiny brass and also painted the wheels black. Copied the pipe runs from the original loco but of course one can only go to a certain level of detail on a garden railway locomotive. Am pleased with the tidied up cab. Am quite pleased with the results but forgot to photograph port side. too dark now but will have a go tomorrow

Top job Tag.
Is it one of your fleet ?

This one is yes. Will document in GR later. I have a Karen and another Ragleth to do yet.

Very nice, Tag.

Tag - that looks excellent!
The re-railing jacks look like Roundhouse castings, but whose is that nice toolbox?
Cheers
Chris

She looks superb:love:, I am so tempted by these Alco's but times are hard and friends are few at the moment.

Very nice work Tag :)

Looks great Tag!
Is that a resonator whistle on the cab wall?
Also, any ideas on fabricating a suction hose to ride on the rear wall hangar?

Nice work Tag.

I always think of ALCOs as big diesels for some reason, which I wouldn't expect from one of your posts, so it's nice to see a real live steamie....

yes it is a reso. I fit these to all my locos.

Have not investigated suction hose because my loco is running on the LWR after its time in the trenches...

A very nice loco indeed. A real transformation Tag. Really looks the part.

Tag,
Lovely piece of work you've done there - black everything always best!
Have you got a gauge conversion kit*, because I'd love to see it steaming through Wadebridge (once normal services are resumed!)

*Notice how I carefully avoided any reference to sewage works

Tag, that looks simply great. Been looking forward to seeing this! I have a weakness for these WD loco's (possibly comes from my patch for Birdwatching being the reservoir that is over the Ashover Light Railway! Yes I know they were Baldwins... but that interest continued into other WD stuff!).
All the bits and stuff added just make the loco much "more of a thing". Elevates it to a new level as usual with one of your pieces of work!

I have one in 009, converted from a Mountaineer (GEM I think), but rather lacking the same level of detailing, and definitely not live steam :rolf:

They always were handsome locos, it's just that some are more handsome than others
