Allegra first pictures

I'd guess the power car is effectively priced as RhB locos, 1000 and the coaches are 250 ish each so 1500 total.
You can't compare the costs of a small mould like the Stainz with these huge moulds as there isn't a saving as the dies get bigger so each bodyshell is probably four times the cost of a Stainz ;)
Add to that the extra costs of R&D today and all the extras like pantographs and lighting circuits and it soon mounts up.
It's great to have several Stainz instead if you like them but if you're a RhB fan it doesn't quite cut the mustard ;)
To put it in perspective you can ony just get three of the Bemo HOm Allegra's for the cost of one of these, technically 1/66th the volume, I wish it was £23 for the HOm one

i love it-
and im not into modern or swiss either.

It reminds me somewhat of the local transit trains here in denver, siemens.

It is indeed a large set, and, i can see limitations.

Apparently the beast will come in around £1500 - better get another newspaper round. What really worries me is how to pick the whole thing up, assuming that it's permanently coupled as a set.

£1500 for 3 coaches and a pair of motor blocks!!! Count me out. I think a Stainz at 90 Euros is just a tad better value.

Each to his own. You either haven't thought it through, or you're being deliberately inflammatory, neither of which is particularly helpful from a moderator. I was under the impression that there was a guideline on here that if you can't say anything positive/helpful, then don't say anything.

I think the intent of Peter's post was to be slightly humourous. Don't think there was any intention to inflame, annoy or otherwise upset anyone.

Are we not allowed to express an opinion now ?

OUCH!
A tad O. T. T. For this friendly forum, IMHO.

It's my opinion as an individual. When I post as a Mod, I make that clear. Openly and honestly stated. As are other viewpoints in favour of the Allegra which I respect without needing to comment further.

You may be confusing every user's right to make a comment on a subject with the GSC guideline to express opinions politely and not be derogatory about any product - or person for that matter.

Good job I'm not into Austrian as well Nigel:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Think it looks great. Will probably be popular - the RhB models are.
Good job I do German stock!
No one has to buy it but I'll bet a few do. Best of luck to them. G scale might be a bit tame if we all had the same stock.

If I gave the car away I could buy one with the money I saved just keeping it road legal but, as we need the car, that won't happen for a long time. Its 21st century light rail so it gets my vote.

Paul, DR red and Creme. Nw you are talking. Anyone know where there is a Paper Round going begging?
JonD

Stop it now! It,s red and I may just be able sneak it in:rolleyes::rolleyes::laugh::laugh:

It's not so much the size of the box (large) as the movement in the bank account accompanied by the not-going-on-holiday that's so difficult to explain at the monthly expenditure review.
