Alternative to Blu Tack?

I have read somewhere recently of an alternative to Blu Tack for temporarily securing figures to the railway buildings/platforms etc. Does this ring a bell and if so has anyone experience of using the product?

As summer seems to have arived thoughts turn to putting the people back outdoors.

Do you mean something very like Blu-Tack but isn't? If so, then there are white versions made by (IIRC) Pritt and UHU, both of which I prefer over the traditional Blu-Tack because they seem (to me at least) to be stickier.
If you mean another kind of temporary adhesive that isn't at all like Blu-Tack but serves the same purpose, then I can't help much I'm afraid!

We can only get the white Uhu version here.
Something else I found at a builders merchant was glue and waterproof sealant in one, I actually bought it to glue and seal some foamboard to the bar to prevent spillage but found it glues Schleich figures (soft plastic) very effectively perhaps because it doesn't set truly hard.

Are you thinking of "Tacky Wax", its used extensively to hold objects together temporarily without damage. the only disadvantage is it can melt if it gets too hot. There is also Black Tack a more aggressive version of Blu Tack, it can leave stains on some materials though as can Blu Tack.

i use a very small dab of no nails if both surfaces are non porous it will hold firm but come away with a little presure

Thanks Paul. It was TackyWax that I had read about. Have now ordered some so will see if it performs better than Blu Tack.

There is Oasis Fix which is sold by florists and is extra tacky and water proof, good stuff.

I stick everything down with clear silicone sealant. It's waterproof but things can be released with a thin blade. I do not like Tacky Wax as it dries out & then let's go.

Tag used to talk about Nuclear Snot, I assume that it is something like that stuff that holds CD's and other things to Magazines. Anyone know the correct name for this stuff and where we can get hold of it? There are a lot of gummy things out there.

I use clear bathroom/kitchen sealant for a few figures or details but mainly I drill one foot and stick a length of brass rod into the foot. Then drill holes in platforms, boardwalks etc to slot the figures into. This means no 'prising off' of glue, marks, paint removal etc. Also it is easy to change scenes around if you want.
