Fed up with idiots on eBay. Who is buying this stuff at ridiculous prices. I reckon there is a load of eBay "traders" buying stuff off each other.
If they are then good luck to them. It's nothing to get worked up about, just wait for another one to come along at a price that seems reasonable to you.

There are two types of sellers and two types of buyers

The first set of buyers enjoy paying top doller so they think they are impressing their mates with how much they can afford

The second set enjoy telling their mates they have bought a bargin

The two sets of seller cater for both budgets

If people are continually pricing things high then someone must be paying it I suppose. One would think it is pretty much supply and demand meet at the right price.

I guess things are worth what people are prepared to pay for them.
Maybe EBay is an economic indicator. I always decide what something is worth to me and will never bid higher than the value I see for an item. I never used to win much but then along came the recession and I won quite a bit. Just recently I have stopped winning so maybe this is a sign of the economy starting to improve. Or me getting even tighter.

Without being discriminatory, these are later Chinese made items from early/mid-2000's. I have many of the earlier German made items, from the earliest 'golden honey' coloured roof moulding to the later end vestibule cars and I would never touch the Chinese made items, particularly the later releases (Durango & Silverton) from 2009.

Re: Gauge 2. Am i missing something

At the foot of that add (post 21) are 2 Bassett-Lowke Gauge 2 wagons. I understand this gauge only lasted a short time but one Item has 5 bids & one 3.

SO has anybody on this forum seen any Gauge 2 layouts? (1:29 on 2" Track) I would assume layouts must exist as I have yet to find an item that somebody is not collecting.
When I worked in Victoria the BL shop was just round the corner and many a miss spent Lunch Hour was consumed in it, but I have never known of a Gauge 2 group.
