I recently had a couple of visitors over for some Operating Sessions. One was a Lady who had never Operated a Garden Railway before. There was a rough shunt onto the buffer stop in Road 7 at Silberhutte which completed the disassembly of said Buffer Stop. In truth it had been falling apart for some time. The construction was on a Block of Wood with Stones Glued to resemble a Rock Built Stop. Sadly I never took a picture of the Mayhem that ensued, neither do I have a pic of the Buffer Stop in its original state. But the following pics of a Water Tower and Tunnel Mouth that were constructed some Years ago by me for the 16mm Ridgmont Layout should give you an idea.

The repair started by re-glueing things together again with External Grade PVA, gaps filled with Small Ballast. The lost Wood Front was replaced with Concrete and a Couple of Chunky Nails cast in. Next Pic shows this.

I the used the Nails to mark where it would be sited (again) and drilled through the Wooden Baseboard. As there is Roofing Felt on top here, I like to use plenty of Silicone to discourage Water getting under the felt and rotting the Wood Baseboard over the Years.

Final shots show the Stop back in place, hopefully to withstand the effects if ANY Drivers.

Final Pic displays Wood that is used to ensure that a Hook does not get left inncompression, mthus potentially damaging the Spring.
