Very Early 2010 with a smoke stack must be about 71/72 at a guess

It's always nice to receive a new loco. But my eyes are not that good to see the teeny tiny picture. :rolf:

i've resized the pic

Thank you. My eyes are at ease again.
Is that a lighting socket under the rear headlight?

No Rear lighting socket, this is a early one

Split chassis, small headlamps, very early cab same as the 68 version

no a early split clamshell with skates

While the small headlamp is indicative of an early model, the yellow box was used up up until circa-1978 and the gold plated smokebox and boiler mouldings were not released until around the mid-1970s. The early models also had a black moulded whistle and the round rooftop vent as your model has.

The small headlamp and lack of through power fitting in the rear cab wall are a little perplexing but I believe it to be an early 1970s loco with some glitzy alterations.

the gold plated smokebox and boiler mouldings and whistle, etc all look handpainted
so I think someone has painted them later

cool
even better that its not a growler

Interesting.... I thought that all those with the small round cab roof vent were growlers.

Jon.

Edit: OK, sorry, just noticed the yellow box! A growler era one would be in a grey (plain overprinted cardboard) box, right?

This is a 2010d with fitted stack
