Anything new from Wuhu?

The 'Falk" looks interesting .. it looks to have full Stephenson link motion for the valves, but those main crank pins look long and thin!
could be vunerable in derailments...

thanks long wall ,,,,,,,,,,, 785 dollars,,,, not going to be cheap as g1mco coached which look to be realisticly priced and as there made by the accucraft factory,,, should be very good,,

i will be happy with plastic,,,,,,

Just curious why being made at the accucraft factory is a selling point? Still made in China like Wuhu. Also the QC of a lot of Accucraft models is nonexistent. Check out the Wuhu models. They are a good product. We need more manufacturers in this market. Don't be a blind Accucraft or Aster fan boy.

i have no problem with wuhu ,,, i just dont know a lot about them where i have masses of accucraft stuff and its been great,,,, no really really great,,
what i have seen from wuhu looks to be very good, the big shay looks fab but i dont do live steam ,,,,,,so im ruled out buying there locos , although i really like the standard 4 tank,,
i know QC can vary from time to time but everything i have seen from accucraft
has been tip top, thats not to say they have problems,,,,
i supose a £210 mk1 is within the reach of more people than a £500 mk1 and im not bothered whether its brass or plastic, especially if you string a rake of 8 or 10 etc
i am a fan of accucraft,,,, to me they offer a reasonable price for a generally great product, and have probably done more for the hobby than any other manufacturer
when you consider the wide diverse product range,,
i cant comment on aster though,,, you can only sell you kidneys once,,,,
accucraft were once a small company and have grown very quickly for a reason,,,
you are so right when you say we need more manufacturers, i would love to see some one make a class 20, 40 and any hydraulics,,,,,, will it happen ,, maby one day,
so long as its plastic ,,, brass is just too expensive and not always whats needed

I had a few email exchanges with Wuhu back in the spring. I was told they are working on a German BR 24 as well. I guess it is taking longer assuming that the project was not canned.

Hello Again,

Have just found that Wuhu/Bowande now has a new english web site http://www.bowandeusa.com and some ...com/uploadfile/CKEditor/P1040091(2).JPG[/IMG]

Maybe a US website but still no US point of contact. Still expecting to email a credit card to them for payment. Also the warranty issue still stands, Wuhu expects the loco to be mailed back to China for repairs and you pay for shipping.

Play nicely

Wow, those A4s do look nice....

Bit of a problem with 2511's wonky numbering there - I assume it's just a pre-production sample? Not sure I'd be showing things like that as an advertisement for an expensive product.

Other than that they do look nice tho'

Regarding the Bowande coaches i have seen examples of them a couple of times at exhibitions.
Now any opinion is bound to be subjective which needs to be kept in mind when you read the following,

When i saw them in the flesh for the first time i thought that the overall appearance was totally spoilt by the oversize hinges on the opening doors and having seen them again since i just do not understand why someone somewhere would think that this was an attractive and desirable feature.
I do not envisage many being purchased and given to children to play putting little people in and out of the doors. Leaving that aside although there was possibly as much detail on them as there is on a Tower Brass coach it did seem to me that the detailing was a lot heavier and lacked finesse.
I suppose the nearest rival currently is the Tower Brass coach and it should be stated that a fully finished one costs about £670 versus £399 for the Bowande.
Looking at the Bowande website i can only find three types available, no sign of a restaurant or buffet car, the three on offer are available in blood and custard or chocolate and cream. I notice that you have to order a minimum of four which works out at £1596 minimum spend at a time.

The Tower Brass range has (i think) a choice of eight prototypes, available not only in the same colours as the Bowande but also in green, maroon and blue/grey.
You can purchase them one at a time but remember, about £670 a time.
Ultimately you pays yer money and take yers choice and personally i went for the Tower option, i bought some then saved up for some more.

Another consideration is the Gauge One Model Companies forthcoming range of MK1's, although made from plastic rather than brass the initial offer was four coaches for £850, four different liveries available. It should be stated that this was a pre-order offer, i understand that single coaches will be made available later but at something like £270 - £300 each.

As i said at the beginning opinion is subjective but of the people i know in Gauge 1 some own or aspire to own the Tower Brass carriages, many have ordered the G1MCO plastic carriages but i personally do not know of anyone who has viewed the Bowande carriages and decided to buy them, hope this helps, cheers Rob

the gauge one mk 1s are only brakes and coach at the mo and I know they are going to expand the range
you have to buy 4, 2 of each for 850 which is good value and they come from the accucraft factory which usually makes great rolling stock
they should have been here by now but they had problems with tooling it up so had to use a different company
but I don't think it will be long till there here
