tramcar trev
all manner of mechanical apparatus...
Another milestone today?. Or maybe that will be a millstone later on?. The traction poles have been planted and this adds a whole new perspective. I made a quick addition to my drill to let me drill consistently vertical holes, it?s a bull?s-eye level set on the handle on a bed of epoxy putty. I set a length of 12mm rod in the vise and perpedicularised it with the aid of a level then clamped the drill chuck onto it and bedded the level while the putty was still workable. To get my holes vertical I just have to get the bubble centre, squeeze the trigger and presto a hole that points directly to the centre of the planet. Maybe I should share this idea with Herr Bosch?? Did you know before he started make tools he made tramcars??
The ornate centre poles in Memory Lane look very nice and the bracket arm poles in the Park look good too. I think it emphasizes the tight radii I have to work with? This will now define more accurately the area I have to work with for the Bandstand. It will be about 5 metres across the flats and around 3 metres floor to ceiling and about 4.5 metres tall?. Scale dimensions of course!!
The asphalt came up looking as I hoped; it will weather naturally to a less strident grey.
Before I string the overhead wire I?ll now be able to place the colour light staff boxes on the traction poles and give the rail a good clean to get all the major contaminants off it, bitumen, paint, glue etc and excise a few stray bits of ballast that foul the flangeway?.
It?s starting to look like a tramway!!!
