*Auction watch* 13 Dec 2023 -SAS Auctions

There's a comment somewhere that they were made by the guy at GRS. [Though there were a lot of them, so I don't know how he'd have time to build them and run a shop!] And they do look nice in the photos.

I had 2-6-2+2-6-2 Garrett that I foolishly bought from a guy in the UK (couldn't sell it in the USA when I got fed up of it: no-one knew what it was.) Same kind of construction - the power was a pair of LGB 2085 trucks.
They do have a selection of in house builders. Not a gang you understand just the odd one or three or more.

late It looks like some of the locos have started to appear on ebay

Wells spotted ! and sold straight away ! Footplate in Kiddi really are making £s out of these auctions. The sold price at sas was (! LOT 701 An LGB-based G scale (gauge 1) Ffestiniog Railway Single-Fairlie 0-4-4T Locomotive) £190... That would equal as"in" price to footplate of £250 (lot, prem, vat and small delivery charge)...minus the Ebay charge for around £40 = £184 profit. not bad for an afternoons work on tinternet, They have several items like this... it’s all about taking the risk.

Hope who ever purchased it enjoys it.

Yes, the Bachmann streetcar had a hammer price of £140! Now on ebay for £249.99.

I think ine must be desperate to pay that ebay price, auction price was about on the money IMHO.

Yes, I was thinking about bidding for it but…having been caught out on the Aristocraft PCC car for size compatibility, I didn’t bid in case this was a similar issue.
Cheers

I have been thinking about this, why is this Ebay railway retailer not "repairing" it himeself and at least adding some value to the sale, it would not be a hard thing to do.

They are marked as a business so a quick turn around to make a living. As long as the description is accurate I do not see a problem.

Because if he repairs it, he takes on the liability of it running like a dog, or failing in some other way..

Sold as a non-runner, buyer beware..
Who is to say the motion is any good? - Why has the drive failed?
:wondering:

I always steer clear of these ‘easy’ repair jobs. If it were that easy, why don’t they repair it themselves? Maybe in this case, the asking price is at its maximum, working or not!

He lives in hope…mind you, with charges and post, that would be up to over £400
They must have purchased a few things so that will save costs, To be honest it was quite a "risky" purchase for a online shop so fair play and you are able to return it if faulty or not happy.
