Bachmann C19 - photos

Well the sale of a few bits and pieces made it hard for me to resist the temptation.......
I gave in and bought a C19 'Flying Grande 345' from eHattons at a good price and it arrived today.

I have had a very good look over her and she is a very fine put together model. It is beautifully finished and is very highly detailed even down to the connecting air hoses between loco and tender (extra flexible tubing is supplied to make a semi permanent connection of required).
I have looked at many actual photos of the particular loco that this model is based on and all the correct details are present.

It has comprehensive and easy connection options for the addition of sound, DCC or RC, whether plug and play or direct connections etc.
A speaker is already in the tender and extra height spacers are provided to site the connection board above if a larger speaker is to be fitted.
I will post some piccies tomorrow and will test her out when the weather dries up and post my findings on drawbar power, tolerance of uneven track, If it can navigate R3 curves (it might do it but it will look awful!) etc etc.

Nice Christmas present Mike

Its a beauty - even worth building a new line for it!

A great review of the Loco in the February edition (it comes early from across the pond) of 'Garden Railways'.
Silent powerful motor, strong gearing, great pulling powerpot on dimensions and details etc etc.
I found out one interesting fact, in the review. On the model the centre two drivers are 'blind' to help navigating 4' (but apparently even 2.5') radius curves. BUT the 'blind' drivers are thicker profile for extra metal to grip when they are 'hanging over' the railhead on a curve WHICH was exactly what the prototype had....you learn something every day.

Only 'con' was the fact that as it is a heavy loco, the very fine detail might get broken if it is not handled carefully.

mike does it come with a cowcatcher aswell or is it just as a switcher pilot as photo

if not any one know if the other cowcatcher is available to buy seperately ,, the k27 did so wonder if they are doing the same for the c19

to switch over,,,,,,

having looked at them i think i like that one the most,,,,,

Or broken off in transit, something the Shays were prone to.
