Bachmann g scale emily loco

When we spoke to dragon the other day he said that she should be in soon. Bachmann have listed Nov/Dec on their site for when it is due. This has been put back several times, it was meant to be July originally. All I know is that we have 2 on order.

Me too.

I have one on order form GRS for ages. Last week they said that they are also now thinking more Nov/Dec now, but had previously been told Sept/Oct.

Interestingly, I have heard nothing of the plans for the range beyond Emily/Goods Brake and the SC Ruffey open wagon. Does anyone know what might lay ahead?
James

Thanks very much, I will buy one but I really do believe these will be overpriced for what they are, as are the the others, regards Mitchell

You would of thought that the next logical choices would be a goods van, bogie coach, Toby, Henry or Gordon.

Had a long chat with the Bachmann rep in model world a week ago, There has been plans for Gordon and Henry, but with the Emily problems further developments have been put on hold till they see what happens with the sales.

Surely Edward would have been the best tender engine to release first he was after all the star of the first book!

James was a small goods mogul (freight 2-6-0), Henry a mixed-service 4-6-0 and Gordon based on the A3? 4-6-2 passenger pacifics.

I also think that Edward would have been a good choice... they could have used James' tender and the drive mech. from Percy, though bringing the drivers closer together. Anyone know what they used for teh pony wheels on James? about match the pony axles on the Annie? (non Thomas annie that is)

I wouldnt really call Emily a minor character with her being one of the main 'steam team' and a popular one at that.
The idea of releasing Emily was probably to have a female character in the range is my guess.

Toby would be a good character to release into the range or Diesel.

The wheel diameter is 36.5mm (over tread) - same as the tender wheels.

Basing Henry and Gordon on the James mech and tender chassis would have been simpler and cheaper.

What was James then? :rolf::rolf:

The idea of a single is a good one (for kit-bashers at least) .

I think it's a generation/age thing, George. I had to Google to see who Emily is....but I'm from the book generation of Thomas, not TV. Polite way of saying I'm over 50.....:@

I'd personally like to see Hiro and Murdock, but then again, I'm all about moving tonnage with steam.

(anyone see the video of NKP 765 hauling butt up and over Horseshoe Curve this past August? First steamer in 30 years over the Curve!)

Only need to be in your 30's to think that Neil so your secret's safe . . . . . er was ;)

I agree George, Toby would have been a good choice mainly because it would have more than just the Thomas market.
Emily wasn't a character from the original series so some of us consider the original series engines as the main characters. I'm all for the Single but just seems a strange choice, and yes I missed James!!!!!!!!!

I think that Emily might have been an unwise choice so early on the series, I hadn't thought about it before but agree with others here, yes Toby would have been excellent and so would some of the others.I can see the appeal of Emily though as a model and think it should ooze character, if we ever see it that is, I still think whatever is made next it will be grossly overpriced for what it is, i.e a large mass produced plastic toy, without the quality of say LGB. I would have absolutely loved for LGB to have produced Thomas and the rest,I would for one have scrimped and saved for what would certainly have become classy collectibles, but I guess then they would not have been played with by the grandchildern, regards to all Mitchell

Although I wasn't at Warley, I have spoken to a couple of people who were there, including a well known retailer who had a stall. I have been told Bachmann did not even have a sample of Emily on display on their stand.

This does tend to suggest that Emily does not yet actually exist. Or perhaps it does, but is in a shipping container somewhere between here and China? My money is on it not arriving in the shops before 2013.......

This also applies to the SC Ruffey open wagon and the Brake Van.

Hope that I am wrong!

James

Just had another thought or two about this....

I am sure that whenever Emily and the other items eventually appear they will be well received and will sell well.....

BUT.......

Another item announced ages ago (and surely ripe for delivery now) was the Thomas Christmas Delivery Set:

http://www.bachmann.co.uk/prod1.php?prod_selected=thomas&prod=0 < Link To http://www.bachmann.co.uk...homas&prod=0

I notice that no date has been given for when this should available. Presumably it must be Christmas 2013 and none have yet been produced, or Bachmann look like either being stuck with them, or having to discount them if they arrive when or after the other items we are waiting for, eventually get here.

At the price shown (£340GBP) it does look extremely expensive for what it is (Thomas, Clip On Snowplough, Santa Hat, special open wagon, special 6 wheel coach and a cardboard present load, with track etc.

Given the global nature of the readership of this site, it would be interesting to know if ANY of the production versions of ANY of these coming Bachmann Large Scale Thomas products have actually been seen in the plastic and metal, or even seen in a store?

Many thanks,
James

James

The wait is over gents. I have received a delivery note from Bachmann showing that Emily, the brake van and the S.C. Ruffey wagon will be with me tomorrow (Thursday). That said my FedEx man doesn't normally come until after 3pm, drat!!!!
