Bachmann Heisler - slow running / pulsing

Hi Rob, glad you're getting somewhere!

Hmm..., not having one of these I don't know for sure what these other wires are. If everything you want to work is working as-is then I wouldn't worry about them. Can you trace where they go, ie. do they disappear into the loco bodywork, or are they attached to the main board? If they're not attached to the main board then my guess is they're probably wiring for a chuff sensor and speaker, but don't take my word for it.

Thanks, i am inclined to agree leave well enough alone, but would be interested to know if any one else has the same wires sticking up ??

Forgot to mention the slight buzzing noise, this disapeared as soon as i changed the two wires on the PCB to there origional Analogue connectors

These two pairs of Red & Black wires dive under the PCB and possably down in to the Loco body, to follow these would require more removal and untill a problem arises, i am disinclined to take apart a now full functioning Loco.

I think i will quit while i am ahead.

Would rather spend the time on the next DCC removal, its a 2 Truck Shay that has a similar but not as pronounce pulse effect - but very dull lights that only just about manage to Glow at full chat. :bleh:

Thanks again for all your help, this really is a great forum

ah-ha - think I guessed right about the wires being chuff sensors, but sounds like there may be two sensors (one for each cylinder?) and hence 2 pairs of wires. George Schreyer's Heisler tips

DOOH :admire: must have gone through Georges tips 1/2 dozen times, but still managed to miss that bit
Thanks Nick.

Had some [strike]play[/strike] testing time this evening, the Heisler now runs even better on annologue with out the chip, will pull 30+ 4axle log wagons at a nice crawl even through 3 180degree R3 curves, it even pulls better than the Shays, although they are both still Chipped.
