When I was changing the smokebox front on mine I scratched my head as to how the lamp could be replaced.
I am guessing that either the front bezel which appears to be glued in place would have to be removed or, if the lamp is assembled similar to an Annie, the disc at the back of the light would have to be removed but on mine that looks even more difficult to remove without gouging the plastic.

Hi Keith
Thanks for the reply , iv'e had ago at twisting the front glass with no effect and at the back if i twist it any harder i'm affraid of damaging the whole light why Bachmann have to make things so difficult all they had todo was a put a screw thread on the glass so all you had todo was unscrew glass change bulb screw back on how easy would that be .

Re:Bachmann K-27 front light

Hi Guy's,

I think the lights on my Bachmann 2-6-6-2 Mallet are similar to those on the K27, they are also similar on the Connie.

I have fitted white LED's in mine it only took about five mins to do, I used 12v bright white ones from Halford's, they come prewired with a resistor fitted, the reason for the 12 v is because I run battery RC.

To remove the lens and reflector from the lamp housing, I inserted a watchmakers screwdriver blade, up through the hole where the wires come out
and pressed it on the backside of the reflector. The lens then gets pushed out along with the reflector and bulb/led.

Hope this helps.

Bruce.

Glad you found the culprit.
Those multi-connectors can give rise to all manner of odd problems if they have not fully slotted in place - removing them afterwards gives other problems!!

Hi Keith
I now keep loco and tender fixed together in a large wooden box that i made as i found it very hard to pull out the sockets was afraid of damaging the wires had found that one of the sockets had worked loose on my R3 curves .

Richie Mine is currently sitting in the dining room with the tender dismantled awaiting the b****y replacement sound card rather than hump it backwards and forwards.
Once I have got the sound card problem sorted I intend buying one of those metal carrying boxes and modifying it, hopefully, to allow me to run it directly onto and off the track without removing the connectors.
