Bachmann to make the Sterling Single "Emily" in large scale

A much bigger question for me is will it be to any kind of scale? The fact that Thomas and the coaches look so stupid together (due to size difference) puts me off the whole range. Percy is also about twice correct size for such a loco. If Emily was somewhere near a reasonable representation of a single in a particular scale I would be interested - if not forget it.

It is right for Bachmann to go for the youngsters market and I applaud them for this but I do think they have missed an opportunity for sales to adults by making them such peculiar sizes.

Emily, will just be another locomotive in the 'Thomas' range. Bachmann make no pretence as to an exact scale. It is simply a toy at a 'toy' price. For those who demand scale, then no doubt deeper pockets would find a scale single axle locomotive, but not at the price of a toy. I am pleased that Emily is to be released and that it looks as it does.

The days of the Rev. Awdrey books have nothing at all to do with the current day Thomas range. Since HIT Entertainment took ownership, the original Thomas as we remember, vanished. I cringe when Ringo Starr is not the narrator or when I see the computer animated series shown. In the late 1980's, Thomas was in his heyday. Ringo Starr had just the right voice for the series.

Does anyone know if Bachmann have any intention of putting their new brass track into the train sets or will they still have the rubbish tin plate stuff?
