Anyone Know the Blue Train Stainz History

I have 3 versions all different

2 with silver fronts 1 with gold front

1 of the silvers and 1 of the Golds carry the boiler number 1994 usally found on a no1 cab and have engineer on right hand side
the other silver carries the boiler number 2774 and has engineer on left hand side

They made this set for several years and as with Lehmann set locos at the time they were made up from what ever parts they had spare in the factory.

My info has them as the early 1980's "Blue Train Set' locomotive, although cab number was '2'. The silver front was the factory version from 1982 and the gold front an aftermarket version in 1983.

After market? as in not produced by LGB or Produced by LGB for a company like Sears and roebuck?

Paul,
LGB routinely shipped items ex-factory to dealers (originally in Europe and later in the U.S.) and outsource individuals who applied limited run repainting or markings to the stock Lehmann product. This was a very common practice, obviously with LGB's permission. The 'new' aftermarket items were then given an item number different to the original LGB item.

The blue train set was supposed to be a limited run but because they were so popular LGB made several more batches over several years.
