Burner mesh

It's prob me, all I did was took the burner out, fitted the mesh and put it back together. Hard to see where I screwed it, but looks like I have,

Try mixed gas, if you haven't already.

I've just fitted my mesh (the 40 mesh stuff that Tag posted an EBay link to earlier in this thread) and my word, what an improvement. It's so good that I had to turn down the gas after taking this vid because, as you can see, I was getting hot blue smoke!
It's positively silent now (well, near as dammit) :bigsmile:

Is Matt (brianthesnail) still around?

No :bigsmile:

Matt if you are not 'a round', does that mean you are now a square, or perhaps some other
irregular shape? :rolf::rolf:

It was a pukka commercial mesh made for it, it's burning all right, but not getting hot enough to steam.
First of all slip the mesh off and prove that it works without it. If it does then perhaps you can post a pic of your mesh. If i doesn't then check that the gas jet is not blocked. Quick way to clear is to upend the jet (nose first) on the brass filler fitted to a full can of gas. This should blow out any stuff that is stuck in there. When you refit your jet use a bit of ptfe tape or a bit of threadseal (NOT locktite) in the threads of the jet.

A partially blocked jet is the most likely cause of the problem. Otherwise let's have a look at the mesh you have fitted.

This will not be a major problem and we will be able to sort it.
