Butane cost ?

4 cans for £4.99 shrink wrapped, cooking style in PoundStretcher.
No steam engines on my layout, use mine for cooking in the Van. Seem to last a long time.

Good value

Charlie's stores in Newtown and Coed y Dinas in Welshpool sell fours cans for £3.99. I think B&M bargains do a similar deal too.

Just found Campingaz CG 3500 (70-30% mix) cans at Homebase for £1.93p.

I buy mine from the local smoke shop (read weed seller) here in CA Buy a case of 12 for $20.............
I have just ordered a adapter for the camping butane gas from evil bay as one of my locos will only run on butane. They are not expensive .

Both 'live-steamers'... Must be bad coal?? Just taking a long time to come to the boil! ;):giggle::giggle:

My good old Gel Cell batteries are still holding out, after who knows how many charges, and the cost of electricity is still within reason...I think I'll avoid gas or coal fired locomotives, due to fuel costs....!!
Could this create a trend ....!!!..........?

In the USA I get my fuel at the local Walmart store. I can get two different sizes of iso butane or a single size straight butane. I just get the iso butane as it fires better in our variable weather here. Never had any issues with any of my engines. I have used it in older Merlin, Accucraft, LGB/Aster and Roundhouse. Its a 70% butane/30% propane mix. The smaller can(Coleman brand name) is $5 and the larger one is $10. Takes the screw on adapter, got mine from The Train Department Mike the Aspie
