I'm familiar with the terminal style chock blocks but I wonder if there is one where it is a distributor, that is, there is one power terminal and a number of terminals to distribute power.

I think he wants a terminal strip:

We call this type a "barrier strip" because of the barriers between the sections, best suited for wires with crimped on lugs:

For bare wires, this work better:

Possibly. Is each wire independent of the others, other than the wire bringing power?

The 'bus bar' John is referring to, is a solid metal bar.. All wires connected to it will make a common connection..

You can also get a flat 'coarse-toothed' metal comb, which has teeth to match the spacing on a standard screw-terminal strip (chocolate block).. A disadvantage of both of these is that the metal conductor is not insulated..

The lever connectors in Slawman's illustration are insulated.. These come in 2-way upwards. You just need to strip the wire to suit, no other tools are needed. These are now used quite extensively above grid-ceiling for lighting circuits, and the like. - Saves having those horrible round connection boxes!

Greg posted just before me..

Barrier strip is more labour intensive, as you have to really use wires with lugs.. Either you have to solder these, or crimp as Greg say's.. The problem with crimps, is you have to match the size of lug to your wire.. Then use the correct crimping tool, else you either destroy the crimp, or it pulls-off / gives a bad connection. - Which can cause overheating at the joint.

No, these are for connecting wires; I'm wanting one with a power input distributed to other connections.

So either the bus bar, or the lever connectors then.. - The lever ones connect all the wires to each other.. So feed in your power to any of the 'holes' and take it out from all the others..

I think Playmofire is after a block with a common input, but with switchable outputs - otherwise the busbar will do what he wants. Going back home to my railway after a month in a Utah coal mine!
