I have (possibly?) the same loco to 'have-at'..
Bachmann 2-8-0 consolidation. - Enormous brute.. LOTS of screws to do anything it appears!!:wits:

I will have a look when it is on the bench at end of week..
So far, have just had cover off driven axle. - Gear not split..
Gearbox seems very loose.
Now I just need to workout how to get to the motor and gearbox. - Have found a good guide to stripping the bottom to change the driven axle, but not to get into the loco to the gearbox/motor.

Brilliant! thanks for the link Tony..
Now, my next task (being ignorant of valve/motion types) is to Google 'Johnson bar' :)
Although it may well be blindingly obvious once I compare the pictures on your site to the engine on the workbench!
Thanks again,
PhilP.

Ah-ha!

To me, a Johnson bar is a long pry-bar, with a hooked end. Quite often with dolly-wheels. Used to raise/slew large, heavy objects.
I suppose we refer to this as a 'reverser' in the UK?

Anyway, enough of hijacking this thread.. I will look into the 'screw-type' end of week..

Hi

There is a Bachmann PDF 2 sheets I think at
http://www.bachmanntrains.com/home-usa/dwg/dwgs/81294.pdf < Link To http://www.bachmanntrains...usa/dwg/dwgs/81294.pdf

that may help you with the locations of the bits.

Also have a look at Greg's site at

http://www.elmassian.com/trains/motive-power-mods-aamp-tips/bachmann-motive-power/connie-2-8-0 < Link To http://www.elmassian.com/...ive-power/connie-2-8-0

Also (scroll down a bit for the 2 8 0) could help

Yours Peter.
