Dampflok 2-6-2 from China

I agree with Tom, who cares if its fun , do it,
I might get one of these and bash it about, you got any closeup of the wheels by any chance, ?
enjoyed the thread, and the vid,

I picked up a 'real' LGB anl sound version in mint condition last year for £150 ....

You were most fortunate there Alec, as your loco is probably worth considerably more at this year's prices.

I only wish I could find the same loco for the same money....

The review in Garden Rail is quite favourable for the loco. If I didn't run American outline I would go for one of these (and maybe even a PIko one as well!).

I had my weekly email of new products from Kernow Model Centres down in deepest Cornwall - they have this loco, plus wagons and coaches which look distinctly NQ - though that name isn't mentioned.

Here you are Mr C, along with a close up of the rather random signs on the cab side. I just love the 'BE WARNING ALARM'!

thanks for the close up off the wheels, and bottom off the gearboxs...

Mine is still going after 18 months and has been much enhanced by adding some strip lead to the trailing trucks and using a much better battery...and its fun and my son loves driving it.

Thanks for the info Tom. It's an ideal cheapy runabout for my Grandson to thrash around the railway with.
If you're looking for a cheapy runabout (or even a pretty decent entry level model), why not consider the Piko BR80, available separately from the starter sets for about the same price?

I think I'd be less mortified if anything tragic happended to this loco than the Piko BR80, but yes it's a valid option worth a look.

It semed to run quite happily and certainly looks good. A valid point was made about the BR80 I've seen those as cheap as £75, but then you still need to have clean track, and get the power connected etc.

I've been looking for a cheap battery loco to run a few laps with a track cleaning truck before running trains. I was looking at playmobil, but this could do the job also.

I'm not saying its for everyone but it fills a gap in the battery market.

Well said Dave. I think people missed the point about it being R/C and bettery powered.

My fault probably... :o:

[align=center]Cheers for that info, I reckon I could chop that into a nice little six coupled tank loco, just right for the Cornwall Branch.

That looks very much like a possibility for a Bachmann Indie bash if you ask me (you didn't though did you :))
Or even an Annie, depending on the wheelsize

[align=center]Wots a bachman indie?

I looked at the annie but the wheels were too big and there were too few spokes,
as it needs to climb a gradient and fight its way thro leaves and twigs, and not be too pricey to repair when it comes a cropper falling off the cliffs

think i might try one.... i thought was probably a driver multi tasking issue old tom! i can't either. I really wasn't being critical in anyway with the rabbit remarks- i have a bachman thomas and it is too sensitive/fast for the little uns to drive successfully- and also it needs me about to go int the garage power up the track etc. i was thinking this could live in the toy cupboard and they could use as the like... we have a playmobile modern outline diesel but it is prety hopless as you have to pop the battery pack off to tunr it off properly so every session they play and i am at work the batteries get drained :-(
