Hi guys
I am now in receipt of my newest loco and its being stored for chr***mas ;)

But like most little boys I had to have a look at it:bigsmile:
There's no sticker under the loco but the instructions say there's a decoder interface....
Now is there or isnt there???

Its never been on the tracks brand new super shiny unmarked LGB 28001

Short answer is "yes"! It is on the main circuit board in the boiler. You will have great fun trying to fit the decoder if you try to fit it through the smokebox door (and flick the teeny switches). Dismantling the loco is easier in one sense and an absolute pain in most others!

Just remember that all the DIP switches need to be OFF, I.E. different to how they will be if no decoder is included. Otherwise (so I understand) you may trash both the loco and or the chip.

EXPERT CONFIRMATION OF THIS PLEASE,
I ALWAYS DO THIS.

I would concur with Peter, it has a direct decoder interface. From the instructions:

Multi-Train System
This model has a direct decoder
interface. It can be equipped with
an LGB Multi-Train System Decoder
(55020). The Decoder Interface
Cable (55026) is not required.
We strongly recommend decoder
installation by an LGB service
station. For more information,
contact your authorized LGB
retailer or an LGB service station
(see Authorized Service).
Hint: If this model is decoder
equipped, the digital/analog DIP
switches will be set to OFF.

Hold on with all these dip switchs.
The DCC interface locos do not have dip switches (well mine does not).
You remove a blanking plug to plug in the decoder. The removal of this blanking plug does the job of the dip switches of old. It really is that simple (other than space).
Just done my 28004 so if you want any help please ask. Massoth XL is ideal and comes with the correct plug.

and mine does not have a sticker on the bottom either. (well not a decoder sticker)
