I have another reply from eBay.
They are much quicker to respond than they used to be.
It is the final sentence which is a shade worrying. In short it sould read:-
"You vill like our system. Ja!" :nail:

"Hello,
Thank you for writing back to eBay with regard to searching for an item.
I can really understand that it is indeed very difficult to adapt with something when you're habitual of using something for long time. As you feel that the low hits by the search result is caused by the recent changes on eBay, I have now forwarded your feedback to our site developers. They will look and review on this the earliest.
Furthermore, we have changed the search results page to a more user-friendly interface. This is for buyers to find and look for the items they want easier than ever. For example, if you search for iPhone 5, you will be presented with popular filters for that product such as Storage Capacity and Colour. In this way, buyers will be able to search for specific items in a faster way. Most of the previous features are still available. Only location has been changed for few features like selecting listing format, Customise search options renamed as 'More refinements', etc. We have also moved several Search options to a more convenient place. The Popular searches has also been moved to the right hand side of the results page to promote popular items on the site. One example is the ?Save? search option which can now be found at the right side of the keyword box. We have added a new enhancements like Price Range search bar, Option to view Completed listings and Sold listings to compare price, button for buyers to easily go to the Top of the page in a click, etc.
I know that at this time you may not want to like to learn about this new search, but let me assure you that once you start to use it, you will find it more useful and will like to use the new features."

When I type my usual "LGB" and instruct it to search in Toys and Games I get
They're not in Toys and Games - they're in Collectables > Trains / Railway Models

I have saved searches from years ago that work well but when I try the same again the results are much less. The New ebay search system is not very helpful.

Certain catagories of items seem to show up under different classifications depending on the territory they were listed in. Model trains will show up in collectibles in the UK and in toys and games in the US. I always leave the catagory open on an advanced search and try and fine tune the item search when I get near to what I'm looking for by going through the catagory options in the lefthand sidebar.

eBay's no different from the old used car lot. All they did was move everything around every so often to make it look like it was different - never meant they'd actually done any business.

Just because it's IT, doesn't mean that human nature's changed :impatient::impatient:
