Eighton Bahn AKA testing testing RhB

Have done as I had the lid off, no smoke unit leakage or overfill apparent.

Decided to change the pickup skates on Ge 4/4 II only to discover two things, one they are a swine to change, I had to drop the bogies out, and two one of the wheelsets gears had started to crack.
So a replacement wheelset is now on order, so for now it's a Ge 2/4 II...

...So today I have checked every axle, and as I had planned to swap out the worn wheelsets on the Stainz, took the time to do that as well a change a few more loco skates...

...all part of a pre winter servicing.

The new axle/wheelset arrived today, so without much fanfare 19 (619) is now fixed...

P1040377.JPG

...at first I made the classic mistake of reinstalling the cracked one, but I got the correct one in the second time...

P1040379.JPG

...so the temporary Ge 2/4 ii is now again a Ge 4/4 ii...

Mistakes and whoever makes them aside, today has seen No 19 (619) given a free run on the line, whilst the grass was cut, and the washing line post was painted from black to white, unless I painted the grass and cut the post down.

...the BBC are running something called Nightsleeper about a hijacked train, controlled remotely with people still on board running without a driver, something that of course could never happen. ;)

Speed is relative, but fast it ain't, it's taken almost two decades to get this far, others have built/re built, moved, started again in less time. But I take your point.

Even though things are packed away for the winter, there has been some developments.

A recent visit to a model shop within the locality, resulted in another of those sort of right scale ish, lego ish, vehicle kits...

...a London taxi, which given the supposed Swiss location of the railway, it's a bit lost, but just imagine the fare cost.
I have also taken the decision to paint the bridges into corporate green, so supplies of cheap rattle cans of paint were purchased for the job...

...so work has commenced, with the spiral loop bridge first up for a dismantle and clean up...

P1040405.JPG

...then the re painting started...

...it may be a mottled and have the odd run/bleb in places, but one thing I have learned, is that the next one going forward, will be cleaned then half or fully re assembled for painting, as I am wasting a lot of paint covering the grey bits that never see the light of day.

For an awful moment I thought the taxi was going to end up green o_Oo_O

I mean, I think yellow and orange are probably OK - you see both colours in das capital if I remember rightly, but BRG - that's way too Surrey :shake::shake:

Lucky we have been having some sunny days, allowed me to get some spraying of rolling stock done in the garden.

Well Autumn seems to be the new Summer these days, weather wise
Hmm, this week has been half term and 35 years ago (until about 15 years ago) we would regularly come up to the Broads for half term week and sail the dinghy :nod:

Sunnier/Summer days or not, one of the items on the things to do list has been ticked off, with the aide of cheap rattle paint cans from Aldi...

...the last of the bridge painting is now done and re installed, they are a bit rough n ready, more of a car crash of a paint job, but I never said I was any good at painting.

They all look good to me, you do not need to be too harsh on yourself.
