Re:Emily downunder - Going Rather Off Topic
Steve,
That is a pretty good point. I have no idea which characters are or aren't in the current version of Thomas. I have only seen it occasionally in the past three years or so, and was less than impressed by the CGI version with the nasty plank-like rails.
The only good thing that CGI seems to have brought is figures that actually move, and are less wooden and stiff that the limited arm waving that the animated model figures could deliver.
The Marklin tracked animated model version Thomas was a sheer joy to watch, following on in the true tradition of Thunderbirds, Camberwick Green etc.
Would Wallis and Gromit be anything like as enjoyable if they were CGI? I rather doubt it?
I have to confess th,at I have no interest in the Hornby virtual railway either! (Real thing every time please!) Whilst ranting I am also baffled by why my daughter's 7 and 9 year old male cousins walk past the model trains running in the garden, without even looking to go into the house to play on computers!
I am probably starting to show my age .......
Rant over......
Sorry!
