Further to Paul's note about The Bemo version in HOe, I've got a price for a custom liveried and DCC chipped hand assembled CSH one from the Czech guys, ?393. Wow! Maybe this G scale kit one is better value than I thought!
Still in two minds, the kit one is the ideal solution, but will wait to see what the proprietor comes back with in reponse to my email for further details on the contents of the kit.

Just to show that everything goes round in a circle eventually, the latest type being built to replace wor nout Tu2's on children's railways in Russia is a double ended streamlined job with a passing resemblance to the Mk49. Mechanics are pretty much the same as the Tu7A series.

My god that TU10 is even worse, who designs these things! A streamlined narrow gauge hydraulic diesel - give me some utility styling any day of the week. Thanks for sharing Jonathan.

Have to admit, I struggle to think of anyway the Tu10 to really be worse, more derivative, or less appropriate for a narrow gauge loco with a top speed of 35mph. But at least they are building new locos and keeping the old pioneer lines open. And it does look a lot like most of the current crop of russian general purpose electrics, a lot of freight machine even have this kind of styling going on.

Hi guys - I got a reply from the chap behind the Blauterm model - I think I'm probably going to go for one. I've got most of the cash lined up so another few months saving I'll have enough...

Any hints as to what the motive power units are? LGB motor blocks, or some other commercial type, or specially built ones? There is an underside shot on the site, but it's not terribly helpful, does anyone recognise the motor blocks?. I assume you have to provide all your own internal circuitry and lamps (hence the bit about "electric, LEDs" not being included), but then I'd imagine most builders would be quite happy doing the wiring anyway if they can build the rest of the kit, and on something like this I'd certainly DCC chip it with sound.
A fun project, will look forward to further reports if you get one, James!

I think they're USA trains blocks looking at the photos - I'd probably not bother with DCC and sound if I build one, but definitely look to do something with lighting, which may mean a DCC chip is the easiest way to get a constant voltage for a light source anyway! Just I don't have MTS to program one so would need some help...

I'm not sure yet... at risk of wandering off topic here we go...
I guess I was just planning on recreating something vaguely Polish looking...
I'm kind of slightly torn at the moment if I'm honest. There will be two versions available in HOe (3.5mm scale), the lovely detailed and customisable Czech model for about £320 delivered, and the Bemo one (at some point this year?) about £200 (apparently - I'll believe it when I see it). Both are pricey - but appealing as I could do a little scenic plank with overgrown narrow gauge tracks, a flat landscape, a few trees, vaguely Polish inspired with PKP liveried engine and roll-wagons with little extra cost...
However the head says concentrate on the G-scale stuff and avoid a different scale as a distraction...
If I go for G-scale then I'll do a PKP inspired livery but instead of PKP on the plates it would perhaps say EJK? Then the other stock labelled up as EJKLR can be used - I don't think I'd mix running between it and the Austrian stuff though - perhaps I need a bit more thought - as I'd always assumed the EJ&KLR is in Austria. The other option I suppose is to say the EJ&K bought one second hand from Poland or Romania in the 1990s to bolster their fleet?
The other thing to bear in mind is I've got one of the Wangerooge LGB sets on order, due Q3... I saw this as re-paint fodder to produce an OBB 2092, and some more EJ&KLR rolling stock - but I still need to save about £400 for that I guess.

Squinting even harder, I think that they're the 44tonner type, because at least the one on the left is fitted with traction tyres, and it's nigh on impossible to fit traction types to the NW2 block. The only other four wheel USAtrains option is the F3/Gpseries block, and that'd be way too big.
If so, I wonder where he's managed to find some?.. I haven't been able to get any for two years plus, and that 44tonner block used to be my absolute best-seller (sound effect = gnashing of teeth). You wouldn't believe how many trams are running roung UK gardens powered by those things. Guessing he must have stocked up some time back, or maybe the price of your kit includes a complete new loco to strip for the bogies....
