Faur L45H / LxD2

Thanks Paul - the high resolution one is great (as is the coloured rendering), I found that myself - but the others are things I'd not seen before so have saved them :)

This is where you can all download a copy...

I've been tinkering in Photoshop - for two reasons...

Mainly because I wanted to get an idea of physical size, compared to a Austrian 2095, but also because I fancied messing around with a custom livery...

James,

The LGB LCE motor bogies appear to be similar in appearance to the Faur L45H although they are not as finely detailed as most LGB products. The wheelbase of the Faur L45H bogies is only 100mm less than the 2095 so the standard LGB motor block inside the LCE bogie frame might do.

Regards,

Tony.

I've received some more photos from Rene and he's posted them directly on his website as well...

I've enquired about the cost of shipping to the UK - expecting around 20eur. That leaves me with one question, do I borrow the money from my 'savings' account now (requiring permission from the wife) or save up seperately. One to approach carefully I expect...

Anyway, I think the photos show a kit that is every bit worth the 700eur asking price - fantastic attention to detail and a truly unique model.

I didn't get an answer about the scale, but from looking at the photos, I guess it's around 1:20/1:22ish, perhaps a bit of a rubber rule, but for me totally captures the character of the prototype :)

Nice new pics of it, James, certainly an interesting looking loco - only one thing, in the second-from-last pic in your post - is it just me, or is the thick white band on the paintjob "sloightly on the huh" as us Suffolkians would say? If that was mine, it would bug the hell out of me every time I looked at it!! &:
Still, doesn't detract from a lovely looking kit. Has he sent you any other info yet? The "product data sheet", which appears to be the only other documentation on the site, seems to have only a few pics and the price....

Jon.

Info... not yet Jon - apart from what I posted earlier last week from him. I'm just waiting on a total price including delivery... which at todays money should work out about £600 I expect...

Paint job... yes it definitely looks skewed as if it painted to match up both sides rather than being straight to start with - but as you say, it doesn't detract from the quality of the kit underneath! I would intend to do a red/orange all over like the Polish and Romanian examples (and depicted in my mock up), with a white rather than yellow band along the middle - this drops to a V on the nose, so some fun masking (at some point in the future!!).

I've received another email clarifying the model.
If you search on Google you can see the other body style that Rene offers on this kit.

Email:
Hello James,

price incl. shipping, paypal, insurance (500Euro): 730 Euro
delivery time: 6 weeks

You can pay by paypal. I send you a bill before.

Maybe have you seen, i offer a second loco kit L45H-358. It is easier to build, because less small pieces (only an idea).

Thanks Rene

The deed is now done...

I have ordered one of Rene's kits, ?730 including delivery (about £600) which includes all the body and chassis parts and detailing but not any lighting provision. I'll probably end up fitting a chip and a sound unit when it's finished - so the lighting wasn't a concern.

I plumped for one of his other variants, the smooth door version of the L45H as it was used across Poland and also Romania - and I prefer the look of it.

Prototype photo (from http://www.tabor.wask.pl/typy.php?)...s lead time so I'll update when it arrives :)

Well done James, a big investment .

But will you be weathering it?

That Polish picture is rather tempting :thumbup:

Thanks guys - a big decision - I wanted a challenge and something different.

Ian - yes I'll be finishing mine in the Polish colour scheme, I don't know if it was the 'standard' finish on the Romanian built units as the native CFR also had the same colours, whereas the export units for Hungary and Bosnia-Hz were different? Anyhow - I will probably add some exhaust traces to the roof, but otherwise, I'm not sure yet. It won't be a glossy finish, definitely a worn and faded look :)
