That looks a lot like a streetcar - where and what Paul?

Sorry mate I missed this question! it is a diesel rail bus running on the Skunk train out of Fort Bragg in N. California so called because of the stink of the buses as they went through the pristine redwoods. this is an original bus on the now heritage type tourist line.

I'll be going there again soon, there's a KOA campsite we go to in the RV and they have there own station/stop there which is where my photo's were taken. Let me know if you need any detail shots.............Paul...........

Hi Paul - thank you again! These pics give a good indication of length - great length!
My effort will have to bve much shorter - the usual R1's and clearances - and of course as a narrow gauge version.

If you do get chance to take a pic, I wouldn't mind a view of the opposite side please. Also would like to to know if it has any internal bulkheads or is it open all through?

Also like the safety fence, Ive already chipped the paint on my loco when it fell off a raised section

Showing off now I've mastered posting piccies. More tight fistedness from me. 5mm plant supports from the pound shop through 8mm strip from "Spiv" Carpenters DIY in Coleford at £1.60 a length. The goods shed fenced off for less than a quid, a little crude (just like me) but CHEAP!

I like the use of the railway line as posts so very Australian... now we have to figure out how to make G scale barbed wire.....
Control Line wire as used in model aircraft would look suberb as fencing wire. Aussie paddle pop sticks seem to break down very quickly outside so not sure if id use them for long term external picket fences, they do look the part though.

I'm no expert but wasn't that one of the points of Light Railways that they could get away with less expenditure on such infrastructure ? Hence big headlights, cowcatchers & low speed limits and such?

For barbed wire, you can try cutting them out of flyscreen Trev.

But it's a quick way to madness. I found the fibreglass stuff too weak to tension and the aluminium stuff hard to work with.

Errr I have a short narrow gauge one that I'd like to swap for a larger standard gauge one.....

The aluminium would just unravel as its simply woven...Must be some way of slitiing the fibreglass tuf as the joins are held together by the coating.... Something to contemplate besides my navel....

Hi, I bought a box of 1,000 coffee stirrers for scratchbuilding from a store in the UK called Makro, cost about £4 inclusive of vat.

I am also looking at some wire mesh I bought from a diy place to make ladders out of in 'G' and I reckon with a bit of careful clipping and some white paint, they could make simple good fences and about 3' long stretches without any joining, soldering or anything, just careful use of some tin snips.
