Figure 8 layout

I don't understand. Which photo? I can see your figure 8 image with two sidings. My most recent post has nothing to do with that.

At the bottom left of your post it says "View media item 3194". I assumed that this was a photo you had posted illustrating your post.

Still can't, I'm afraid. I get this message: You do not have permission to view this page or perform this action. I'm able to post, so it can't be because I'm not logged in.

I had a look at my Media settings and the Media Album Privacy 'Can view media items' was set to 'Album owner only' for some reason. I changed it back so it can now be viewed by anyone. I don't know how I fumbled that when uploading on the new system. Thanks for pointing that out playmofire. :)

Many thanks for all your advices. The diamond crossing is the best solution. I need some money but my Personal Prime Minister doesn't seem really happy with my project...Maybe a few flowers will do the trick ?

No problems Longvallon. I think it was fairly unanimous that your figure 8 flyover idea was going to have too much of a grade. The plans I did was for demonstrating a minimum scenario but it takes more space. We have all been over it before but it was a good idea to put to task in AnyRail for future reference. If you don't lead into the grades the wheels hit the sudden slope with a thud and then the wheels or sliders grind over the peak too. Not good for wear n' tear. If you try to ease it in you will end up with a spot with maximum grade in the middle somewhere much more that what you hoped for and that is where your loco will stall. Seems simple at first but there is a little more to it for smooth running.

The flat track figure 8 with crossing will permit your train to run at a nice slower speed. The sharp curves are taxing enough as it is. The only problem with a figure 8 is it will be difficult to add a passing siding later which permits two trains to pass, one running at a time but that may not be needed. It's your railroad and you can do as you wish. Good luck with your layout. :)

Probably, but no it too many otherwise you won't be able to afford the tracks:shake::shake:

I think it is the limited space available which is the stop on passing loops, even adding one at one end exceeds Longvallon's space available I think.,

True.

True. There just isn't enough room to do that in the specified space. Sidings inside an oval is about it.

G scale track is very tough so don't be put off using second hand track.

Thanks. I found this very small layout somewhere but I'can't remember where.
