Well as I?ve said before different gauge same scale! Here is my first completed Gauge 3 loco. Its a conversion from an LGB diesel. Briefly the work has involved the following:

Body
1. Removal of all moulded detail on the cab back (moulded lamps, shunting disc etc) also removal of front lights, exhaust, air vent and all flexible handrails from the bonnet and cab.
2. Removal of the chequer plate on the footplates.
3. Filling of body and replacement footplate and handrails
4. Full repaint
Chassis
1. Got GRS to re gauge the motor block
2. Made new false chassis frames and added brake gear etc
3. hacked off old buffers and made new beams with GRS buffers and Mike Williams couplings
Also added battery RC.

Only thing left is to number her. She?s quite a small Engine, much like the little Ruston shunters but looks the part to my eyes and will make a perfect test engine.

Nice work, Si!

Out of interest, how much did GRS charge for the re-gauging job?

Jon.

Thanks re gauging was about £40, best guy to speak to there is Roy think hes only in on a Monday. Not thinking of going gauge 3 are you? :D

I think piko use split axles with a square end on the gear that sandwich's between the two meaning re-gauging maybe harder to do.

No, just curious! Plus I thought it might be a useful thing for other folks here to know, so I might as well ask. Still got to get the 45mm track down, never mind anything bigger.... ;)
