Just trying to help the OP so he does not get stuck, as live frog does not necessarily indicate what happens on the 2 short "frog rails".

Your solution for the loop is elegant in it's simplicity.

I was not familiar with the little diode trick to make the loop a constant polarity. That's where the "requirement" that the loop section be longer than the train clearly originated from.

Thanks Kormsen, I'd taken a read of that, the only issue was the requirement to change the direction of the controller. But plenty of ideas here! Thanks again
