Nothing too extraodinary about the USA Trains GP38.
It has been around now for some years and it always works fine and has never gone wrong. Am I right?

'Fraid my rather travel worn version in DRGW colours is ratrher sluggish these days, bit like its owner. I think an overhaul this winter might be called for, and for that I will probably be looking for advice and so on, I'll let you know

I'm surprised to hear of one of these being sluggish . I haven't had any such problems with any if my fleet . I do very occasionally (say every 2 or 3 years) open up the power bogies. I clean the wire pick ups and renew the conductive grease. Seems to keep things running smoothly.
 
I like GP38. I use it to lead my triple or quad header

I think it is just a bit of commonsense housekeeping required Chris. I'll let you know how things go

I was told that the one I drove, had a car run into its side at an ungated level crossing the week previously?

Car 0-1 Loco....
