Half price at Hattons

I was suspicious, but it’s also listed on Freeman’s web site, not that I’m in the market. Just tempted for the loco chassis to re gauge and use for something else.
Yep, that's one way of checking - having been caught a couple of times, I don't buy from FB ads at all now.

Well, yes and no, minister.

OK, yep, it's clearly a toy - I don't think Harry Potter is real, but then you never know ;);)

On the other hand, it is certainly strange that a long-standing model manufacturer should choose to go so left field, with no possible spin-off purchases from their other product lines :mm::mm:
Having seen the Hornby series on TV and the way their production manager(?) operates I am surprised that they manage to stay in business at all.

Don't buy anything from FB :shake::shake::shake::shake: There re more scams than real offers - possibly all scams :punch::punch:
I buy and sell quite a bit on Facebook Marketplace and have had no problems. Like with any other market it just needs a bit of common sense to use it successfully. Responding to the placed ads that pop up is something else and I certainly don't go there.

I believe that the scale used was the same as the old Gauge 2 in the US. Lionel actually made a range of sets in that scale with the last one being the Harry Potter one. I must see if I can find a photo or video of a display of them all at one of our Train Collectors Society shows in the last year or so.

Here is a very long (41 min) video report from the TCS Autumn meet of 2021. Good fun to watch if you have time but at 9.15 it starts to show a large set up from Adam Draycott with circuits of 0, Standard, G scale and 2'' gauge (Fig 27), using MTH, Williams, Bachmann and Lionel stock including Lionel Hogwarts Express. My contribution was bringing the Hogwarts set. You will see the circuit as the black plastic 2 rail one and there are points to give a passing loop. Other Lionel sets ran on that circuit as well as Harry Potter.

Aha, that's what I was referring to - never been to FB Marketplace, although I think the dotter uses it :mm:

Yes, it was the episode where Simon Kohler announced TT120 to his team that reminded me of Dad's Army.

Kohler advised the team (of two people) that Hornby were going to launch TT120 and that for this, they needed to embark on some completely new thinking. He then introduced the first new loco, that he previously shown to viewers as one that Hornby had made 48 different 00 versions of - Flying Scotsman.

What's your name boy?

etc, etc, etc
