HELP PLEASE! USA Trains Motor Block F3,GP

I won a used USA Trains Motor Block F3,GP series from US ebay seller ana.kramer (normally reliable I believe). It was advertised as a good runner but I can't get a flicker from it either by sitting it on powered track or by clipping power crocs direct to the pickups. Can anyone advise me if there should be some electronics or switching connected to either or both of these apparent terminals?

For info I am planning to build a Galloping Goose variant from an otherwise scrap Bachmann coach

Thanks in advance for any help

Rob

I don't have any of these blocks, but it seems to me you need to bridge across the inside and outside pins on each side to connect pickups to the motor? Same idea as with a 4 pin LGB block. I don't know whether the outside pins or inside pins are the track pickups (my guess would be the outside pins are the pickups and the inside pins are the motor), but for a quick test it doesn't matter.

I think the pins are the other way round, been a while since i wired up the motorblock for the boxcab diesel. The plate on the top of the motor block unscrews easily and allows you to see the wiring arrangements. Its also easier to push the connectors onto the pins it you take the top plate off as you can ease the pins away from the block. GRS sell the connectors if you need them.

Steve, Doug & Nick - Thanks for your help.... will try immediately!

Thanks again guys - soldered connections direct to outer terminals (will be RC when running) and works perfectly well now.
Very grateful for your excellent speedy response!
