JTT Corrugated Siding

Hi all
Recently purchased some JTT G scale corrugated siding for a small project. This product is labelled as siding but frequently referred to online as corrugated iron. As it was an online purchase I didn't get to see it beforehand. Fair to say I was rather disappointed with the product, it being rather oversize for G scale. The ribs are at 7.8mm centres which corresponds to 187mm 1:1 . A sample of iron I have at home has 78mm centres which makes the JTT product more like 1:10 rather than 1:24. Perhaps fibre cement siding is wider than iron but I don't have any on hand to check. Their O scale version scales to about 77mm centres so might be more appropriate for G scale. Has anyone used the O scale product?

Yes, I was a bit puzzled at first, thinking corrugated rails, even on a siding, would give a rough ride.

In my experience with fibre cement corrugated panels for roofing, often the width/depth of the corrugations is larger than for corrugated iron metal panels.

Yes, I was a bit puzzled at first, thinking corrugated rails, even on a siding, would give a rough ride.

Not even sure that is the exact translation as I have herad small planks of wood modeling called siding in US modeling mags.

Siding not really a NZ term either. We would call it cladding as well. Anyway, from what I can find out fiber cement panels as in the photo above seem to be at about 150mm centres so the JTT product is overscale (but probably OK) for that as well. I'm looking forward to getting some of the O scale version to see what it is like.
