Klein Arosa's Swansong - RhB layout

Re:Klein Arosa RhB layout

Got the mag in WHS this afternoon - what a difference to the CM I last read over 10 years ago - clean fresh design, quality content - and Klein Arosa - superb! Great to see G in a main stream magazine :)

Thanks for the tip off!

Re:Klein Arosa RhB layout

Well KA will be at Warley NEC in a few weeks to show I do finally finish these projects here's the final installed point indicators on Klein Arosa.

And a video of it in action, would be even better with a slow action point motor.

And the unit removed, two magnets hold it in place so it takes literally a second to fit and can be safely stored for transport.

And a video of removing it, really exciting I know!

Last weekend at Warley was the last ever show for Klein Arosa as it turns out. Neil has decided to recycle it to reuse the parts on his home layout, so in a couple of weeks engineering trains will be run to remove the catenary and track and the Arosa branch will terminate at Arosa once more ;)

That's a real shame as this layout, despite being fairly modest in scenery shows that with a consistent palette of colours and attention to detail you can build a lovely G-scale layout. At least the materials will be re-used though :)

What a shame, and a shock, to see this layout disappear....

Point indicator mechanism - what a great idea. Useful for us US modellers, too. Many thanks for posting the details.

Glad the indicators have another use the crank is 5.5mm between centres to make a 90 degree throw, KA did what Neil set out to do and my own Camberwick was very quick to build following the ideas worked out on it. Unfortunately at 24 ft long and already having two layouts I couldn't justify taking it over as storage isn't infinite. It's a lot of effort setting it all up with removable catenary but it was fun to operate.
The problem with layouts is selling them on is difficult, what the recycled parts are worth is often more than the layout, so if you have another use for them then it makes sense as some expect it to be given away at a very low price. Pretty much everything apart from the cardboard platforms and boards is going to be reused by either Neil or me in our other layouts. Camberwick acquired a lighting rig!

Re:Klein Arosa RhB layout

Yes looks neat, crisp and proffesional....
I cant get Continental Moddler here, cant even see Antipodean Moddler....
