Mark from garden rail out let was great in getting me the railclamps I needed asp..wired in the switch drives and each side ing has a power feeds as dose each point .I finally added the last of the balast 20160727_175725.jpg 20160801_091132.jpg 20160803_135628.jpg 20160805_212221.jpg 20160805_212203.jpg 20160805_212502.jpg 20160805_212609.jpg 20160807_145357.jpg 20160807_145425.jpg 20160807_145435.jpg 20160727_175725.jpg 20160801_091132.jpg 20160803_135628.jpg 20160805_212221.jpg 20160805_212203.jpg 20160805_212502.jpg 20160805_212609.jpg 20160807_145357.jpg 20160807_145425.jpg 20160807_145435.jpg

So where did the nylon string come from, Mike? Is it linked in any way to the magic smoke ?:think::think:

It is the edge of the flange wearing as the rubber cleaning wheels wear down.

Yes ian, as allan says , the plastic wheel/flange is made from nylon, and as it wears due to contact with the track, it delaminates ,coming of in bits of string like threads, these end up wrapped around the brass axle ,which then heats it up by friction, resulting in the nylon threads melting, then compilary action comes into place, it draws up the melted nylon, and draws it into the bearings...bear with me..after use, it cools down, it sets back into a lump, in the bearings, this in turn makes it harder for the drive motor to turn the bearings/axle/wheels...which will lead directly to the motor drawing more ampage, wich eventually the main bord will not be able to cope with ,...which is when the magic smoke escapes...new main bord, new drive axle/bearings,and a new cleaning motor...how do I know, well I've rear at least 7...none of my own, mine I retired after 12 years +, after jenny treated me to a new one...

So is it because LGB use cheap plastic wheels instead of metal ones? :giggle::giggle::giggle:

I love the shunt marker. Never seen them before! Made them yourself? Wow..!
