Interesting that you should mention the 'chunky' aspect John .... I saw both Leader and Caradoc side-by-side at the Sussex G scale bash at Herstmonceux and Leader looked rather diminutive when seen next to Caradoc.beancounter said:I do like the overall look of the loco - nice and chunky.

If they hadn't brought Leader out I would probably have bought an Excelsior,if I could have got a good one of course.bobg said:Now, apart from no rear bunker and the additional tool box and sander on the running board it looks exactly like my Excelsior!
It's funny you saying that,it was a toss up between green and maroon, green won, difficult choice without seeing them though.Sea Lion said:sir haydn said:One of these is coming into my works for repainting into corris red and corris style lining
That should be good. Come to think of it we haven't seen a picture of a standard Accucraft Maroon one yet (LMS Crimson Lake)? Anyone lurking out there with one care to post a picture?
Happy steamings,
John

The real important bit is the cylinders, Bob - it now has the standard big accu ones. Excelsiors are terribly under cylindered, makes them have two speeds - stopped and Lewis Hamilton.....
Excelsior is of course another prototypical S&K/Bowaters loco..... so you can have both.....

Ran the Leader at a friend's today (myline is in bits still) it runs very well indeed, most impressed, burner seems quieter too. Forgot my camera....d'oh!
