LGB 2060H

Hi All, recently purchased a LGB 2060H diesel loco. Also downloaded the Service information from the webb. Still have a few questions and hope someone can help.

a) Does the H indicate Horn sound?
b) No indication in the service docs of a switch fitted within the cab however my model has a 3 position switch which appears to be original. Drive only works when switch in full right position.
c) Anyone any information concerning the wiring of this model and if it is possible to install sound card. (Have not yet taken the superstructure of the model to find out what is under the hood )

Any help would be appreciated.

If memory serves me right, I think this loco has a plunger on the underside to work the horn in conjunction with a plastic ramp that fitted between the rails..
Now that's the sort of basic technology I like.

The first 2060H models were from about 1970 were yellow, (non horn were often green in colour) Clamshell motor/chassis assy all parts interchangeable with stainz etc. Another version is the pantograph fitted works loco. The battery is under the longer hood just remove the screws at the front. An ordinary pp3 battery will last years, as any surplus power is fed back to the battery to keep it topped up. Plunger on chassis activated by a ramp between the track.

Many thanks for all the help. When I opened the long hood the battery was in a bad state as was the wiring from the snap connector. A visit to Maplins and a few minutes work repaired the battery connector. I then had to locate and fix a short circuit in the horn wiring system. I have discovered that this version of this loco requires a track magnet to activate the horn.
Once again many thanks to you all for the guidance. I found the opening of the loco beneficial as it was all new to me but is not quite so frightening now.
