I've been waiting to see photos of these in the flesh for some time...
Thanks for sharing, excellent to see them finally shipping - is this the first new steam engine that LGB/Marklin have produced? It looks pretty good - who's getting one in the UK?

im not certain i care for that one
and usually , being green as well as an 0-6-0
what more could one want?
just too blocky
very prussian to my eye -in a not so good way
sometimes 'ugly' is really cool - it took me a while to warm up to the LGB borsig 0-4-0 t, the Spremberger
perhaps its much better in person, as is often the case with me, or i need to see it more , as well as photos of it

-im a slow adapter

funny looking smoke box front pic
is that accurate-it looks very one dimensional, and very simple
so how much is this one?

I wonder how much- if any- of the design work was undertaken by LGB before takeover?

While I won't be getting one ( like my steam British and real) I like it. Seems less toylike ( apart from the gold lamp rings) and finished in satin? Think it's the first all new steam loco from them and hope its a winner.

Looks lovely. Yes, I agree it is a bit 'flat' but we are looking at a very old machine from the 19th centuary.
On my list - shame about the cash flow!

I think I'm going to save up for the black DR one, nearer to Christmas, if I can get a deal from Germany I should be able to find one for about £500.

Frontal view looks rather flat but side view looks quite good apart from the chunky coupling rods....

One is on order for the EG&SNNR.....collected the coach pack last month so another reason for pulling my finger out and getting track power back to the EG&SNNR...

I too have one on order love the real thing nice chunky and cute and I reckon it will look good pulling a rake of feldbahn coaches

I just hope there are no quality issues, I rejected a current LGB Hamburg tramcar set because of very poor paintwork. Also had to send some (Hungarian made) points back, as the point blades were not true. I now stick to pre Marklin/Hungarian made models. Alyn

Only some of the orders have been delivered already. There are also rumours about the model being recalled to the factory for unknown problems.

Anyway, the model does have a design mistake. Look at the top of the brake cylinder (the cylinder cover thing, don't know the right English word...):

On the 1/1 loco, the thing is the other way around (and black):

Many people have told that to LGB on several occassions (e-mail, fairs ....), but they didn't fix it on the pre-production loco, and not on the released model...

I look forward to seeing more photos of them when people get them in Germany and the UK. Seems odd that Italy got there first?

There has been one on the German eBay two weeks ago too.

Do you have a link to it, even as a finished auction? I had a search around on ebay.de a few days ago when this thread started, and couldn't find one.
Not that I'll be getting one soon, the rumours of recalls mentioned above are a bit worrying......

Here you go: http://www.ebay.de/itm/Sachsische-1...hnen&hash=item46079a550c&_uhb=1#ht_500wt_1414

About the recall, it's a rumour on a German forum, so not sure if it's true... I've only seen pictures so far, no impressions / reviews about the quality of the model.

Time will tell if it is any good :)

Do we know if they're made in China or Hungary?
I think it's made in Hungary, but I can't find the source anymore. Perhaps Paolo can tell us?

Thanks for the link - I was horrified at the price it went for, then I realised that it was DCC with sound PLUS a pulsed smoke unit!

I'm assuming that the standard model from Marklin is simply DCC-ready analogue?

Jon.

Great to see a new model from LGB, but it doesn't float my boat.

Just looks ugly (as does the real thing to be fair). Afraid I wouldn't love one. Sorry.

I'm afraid I kind of agree with Gareth; there is "so ugly it's beautiful", but this really is just rather ugly. Might weaken eventually when the price is right (eg: when they are plentiful enough to be discounted on German eBay), but for the time being I'm keeping my money ready for the Trainline Mallet (if and when it ever comes, and in the hope that it will be a good bit better than their V3 diesel!).

That said, it IS nice to see Marklin bringing out a new LGB loco at last, just hope it doesn't blow up in their faces due to production troubles. Still think they'd have been better finishing the tooling to produce the old LGB "factory train" 0-4-0, I'd have had one of them like a shot!!

That wouldn't really worry me, not being too much of a "real thing" fanatic and rivet counter.... but I wonder if that part just MIGHT be a separate moulding, that you could pop off, repaint and refit the other way round?

well that last link by DR
showing the model
has warmed me to it-
yes i know its the same pic-
but somehow wasa larger and easier to see

its so ugly its cool
has an ugly duckling toy-like quality -the sheen i think
the molding on the boiler and domes seems very smooth, little in the way of and edge or seam-making it look rather simple and toyish
but i do like little short locos as of late

but
it really will need the matching coaches with the funky saxon brake lines -more $$$$

to me , itl be about how its priced

i saw the uber version -800 euros-tally ho yoiks!
probably fair for sound and pulse, DCC but still seemingly a lot -
Update 2024…i now own 2 green, 1 black, one mkII push me-pull you….
