LGB gears and how to fit

Long story but I've got a gauge 3 class 08 shunter from E bay. However it uses a LGB motor block and wheels and is set to 45mm. The axles are extended as the loco is out side framed. I'm hoping all I need is some correct slaters wheels and if i remove the lgb wheels off the non lgb extended axles I'm sorted. However, if not I'm keen to explore other options. Now I can get the correct wheels and 1/4 inch axles. So my question is can I get the LGB axle gears, will these fit the 1/4 axles and how would I fit the gears? Are they a press fit?

Thanks

Simon.

From my own experience, LGB use 6mm axles.
The difference is enough to split the gear when forcing it onto a ¼" axle.

Fun and trains is correct from my recent foray into lgb gear procurement. That aside once you have it sorted please share some pics sounds great!!

you can remove the gears from a axle.. drill a holein a peasce off wood tothe sizes of theaxle.. tap the aXLE out

Thanks for the advise. I think I'll sell the LGB power unit sure someone wI'll find a use for it. Will post pics as the project advances.

Modell land in germany still have gears without axles, i know have just bought some for a couple of stainzs
