LGB track cleaner

I reported it as copyright infringement , but it's still there.

Generally I find eBay's customer service to be poor. It takes a long time to try to explain something to them through the live chat for them to understand. However, each chat has a 30 minute time limit on it, so you are either redirected or cut off at that point.

Recently had a user bid on an item and then not pay for it. A very quick look at his recent feedback showed that he had been doing this for weeks. Consequently, I was put in quite an amount of debt through final value fees, and had to go through the unpaid item process to reclaim them which took a number of days. The user (sobe4612) is still active and still actively bidding on random items without paying for them.

I have absolutely no idea why anyone would willingly do this, however I do know that eBay are perfectly happy with such behaviour. My concern is that if an automated user could be set up in such a way, unless people claimed their fees back then 10% of these unpaid items would automatically go to eBay, leading me to believe it may be a scam on their part.

It is also worth double checking your monthly invoices when listing items as eBay seem to conveniently forget that you have listed things under the £1 listing fee promotion. Instead, you are charged the full 10% despite having clicked the link to opt in to the promotion and following the set guidelines.

The LGB logo is now replaced by a solid red circle in the latest offerings, but...

It still says track magic, shows the LGB logo on the bottle in the further blurb, as well as still showing the (My) Aristo and Lgb track photo as the befor and after.

I think if LGB reported the copyright infringement, then action would be more positive (after SWMBO got reported by Liverpool Football club for selling stuff made with their material).

Liverpool climbed down, but I think they had forgotten that they commissioned a good few rolls of fabric in the first place, and this was the last left-over roll.

At Least he stopped using the LGB Logo sort off after being reported a few times , I see his listing still says LGB Track Cleaner - Track Magic, he just painted the Logo out of his Image if you look you can see where he did it :) and then forgot to do it with the image in the description, so he is still using their Logo in his listing.

To be pedantic, does it clean “LGB track“, if it does it’s “LGB track” cleaner!

The seller may be hiding behind that - eats shoots and leaves etc etc

I think most of us are coming from the same place, while we wouldn't touch it with someone else's bargepole, we would hate to see an innocent person taken with such a blatant con :punch::punch:

This thread keeps popping up and I keep thinking it is worthwhile posting this with the heading, perhaps the Title could be altered to be along the lines of “Dodgy LGB Track Cleaning Fluid} or Something more PC that says the same thing.

What does the 'Hive-Mind' of the Forum think the product actually is?

Kettle descaler?
Brick acid / patio cleaner?

I wonder if it is worth asking if he can supply a COSHH sheet for it? :wondering::devil::devil:

COSHH sheet should be available with each bottle - I wonder if HSE would be more interested than evilbay :think:

Sorry not COSHH, as this is the risk assessment for the activity using the product, what you need is a Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS).

Probably coke.

There is a warning on the G Scale Society web page not to use it as no one knows what it is, even LGB.

He did answer my question that it was quite safe to use on laid tracks if you have plants and pets, so probably Water in the bottle if it's safe for Plants and Pets :)

Yes - abuse of the broad acronym for the regs.

I can remember when they were introduced, and being totally confused as to what a risk assessment was at the time. I ended up having to do the COSHH assessments for the business where I was working which was a landscaping contractor, based at a nursery, with the largest glass tree (storage) house in the country. These trees were semi-tropical specimens destined for internal planting schemes in office and shopping atria.

Now, imagine my surprise will investigating the safe use of the various chemicals that we used, when I discovered that on occasions this tree house was 'fogged' with an insecticide that was 95% nicotine o_Oo_O get it on yer skin, and you're brown bread :sweating::sweating::sweating: knocks coronavirus into a cocked hat :mask::mask:

So, I did a risk assessment ........................ :nerd::nerd:

Just noticed after a search that there is already a product named track magic that has been on sale for some time. Maybe another copyright infringement ?

Posted earlier in the thread:
Delux(e)? Products do a 'Track Magic' track cleaning fluid..

By the power of evilBay, I have spotted this (dodgy product) carried across to appear in ebay.sg listings, so it is 'global' in its reach.. :(

I've had this on my eBay watch list to see if it actually gets removed. Today I got a 25% discount offer from the seller. Will I take it up? I think not - my mix of salt and white wine vinegar worked fine when I had to deep clean some track components. I note he is also offering a battery conversion service using a Stainz in the product pictorial - £99 but the parts are extra up to another £99. This second advert gives a little more information on the seller - perhaps a bit of detective work on his model railway activity would prove interesting.

As I said before..
He also sells Lithium battery-packs... And some 'interesting' posters? :tmi::eek::tmi:

He appears to be in the Agricultural Supplies trade.. Mostly electric fencing components!

I wonder if you use his battery packs your loco's go very fast, in short-sharp jerks? :D:D:D
